Radio Blogger (via the NationalReview) is reporting that 9 out of 10 of the top NASCAR drivers have come out and endorsed the President in his bid for re-election.
You know, the guys from “fly over country”. Heart-of-the-Earth people. The people that Kerry claims to represent. The ones Kerry claims are most hurt by President Bush’s current administration and economic policies.
When you’re talking about traditional American values; when you want a representative snap-shot of middle America—take a look at NASCAR drivers and, more importantly, NASCAR fans (fine folk like me, for instance).
All the biggest names are throwing their support behind the President: Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, and Jimmie Johnson (who’s car, oddly enough, is co-owned by the single Top 10 driver who does not endorse the President).
Missing from the list? Yeah, you know who it is without me even telling you, don’t you? Here’s a hint: his name rhymes with Jeff Gordon.
The good news for the Bush campaign is that NASCAR fans are rabidly loyal to their drivers. And to the products they endorse. Care to guess how many Dale Jr. fans drink Budweiser? Any guess other than “All of them” is likely to be wrong.
NASCAR fans represent a pivotal voting block in this election, and these NASCAR celebrities’ enthusiastic support for President Bush will have a real impact in driving voters to the polls.
I’ve never been much of a fan of car #24. And now, I have one more reason to wish blown-motors and DNFs on its driver.
