When I first started planning my 2004 Disc Golf tournament calander, the tournament that I had highlighted as the Big One of the year was the 9th Annual Texas State Disc Golf Championships. It’s an A-tier event that has historically drawn the best players from not only the Texas, but from around the country.

As expected and without fail, it rained hard for a short while during the first round, continually during the second round, and just for a moment during the 27-hole third round. The rain was actually a respite from the unseasonably hot 94 degree end-of-October weather.

The fields were smaller this year than anticipated, the payouts in the Amateur divisions were a bit controversial, but the quality of the courses and the competition made this one of the most enjoyable tournaments of the year.

I shot consistantly, but not great, all three rounds. I finished in 4th place in my division, getting to play on the Leader card with my brother Marty (who finished tied for 2nd) during the final round, which was the highlight of the tournament.

Check out the final results here.
And you can read all of the rants and raved before and after the tournament on this message board thread.
