There is a huge laundry list of reasons why the Left lost this election. But they all boil down to one simple fact:
The Democrats lost because they don’t understand what country they live in.
And they are setting themselves up for another disaster in 2008. A lot of Democrats I’ve been listening to suggest that maybe they weren’t active enough — they weren’t loud enough, they didn’t protest hard enough, they didn’t make their voices heard, they didn’t emphasize the coolness of their music enough. “Now it’s time to really start fighting back and to get more involved.”
But they are wrong. In the last few years, we’ve seen the largest anti-war protests and the largest anti-Republican protests in history. Liberal activists haven’t been this active since 1968. With Hollywood on one side and the MSM working the other side, they were obnoxiously active.
Bottom line? Liberals aren’t losing because they aren’t getting their message out. Liberals are losing because people in this country overwhelmingly don’t agree with their message.
UPDATE: Jim at Right Thoughts offers a much more eloquent and thoughtful explanation of why the Left lost. Go read it. Especially if you consider yourself a Democrat or a Liberal.
