The New York Observer reports on the death of a Marine, Lance Cpl. Dimitrios Gavriel.

In some ways he was like every other young banker: toiling day and night on Wall Street, crowding the bars of Murray Hill and the Upper West Side on weekends, and courting the occasional girlfriend.

Whenever I run across a story or account, a personal look into the lives of these heroic men and women, I feel a deep sense of obligation to read it. I want to know who these people were; I need to remember them.

Go read the full article, and give extra thanks this weekend for men and women like Lance Cpl. Dimitrios Gavriel.

Outstanding recruit and Marine. Gavriel was my recruit from Oct.03-Jan-04. God bless!

You should be damned proud of him and all of your other recruits. You are doing important work; thank you much.

Got something you want to say?
