Mr. Edwards and Senator Kerry just finished speaking. And they each had a very different message and tone. I don’t have an exact transcript of the speeches, but here’s what I heard:

  • Mr. Edwards — “This is Bullshit! I don’t care how many of you voted for the guy, we’re just starting to fight. And now that I’m no longer tied to that French-loving Lurch, you better be ready for a real fight in 2008. Oh, by the way, I’m going to go ahead and layout all my talking points and entire platform now. You do realize that if you had nominated me four months ago, we wouldn’t be here conceding today?”

Jason and I see eye-to-eye:

We will keep marching until we reach that One America.” Translation: We will keep marching until everyone agrees with us. Fuck compromise.

UPDATE: Others are starting to pile on Edwards.

  • And here’s what I heard from Senator Kerry — “Whew, I’m glad that’s over with. I’m tired. I tried hard. I believed in what I was doing. But it’s over. And it’s time to get on with things. Good luck with all that Mr. President.”

Thank you, Mr. Kerry. Thank you for a gracious, timely, and honorable concession speech. Your actions today will go a long way towards the way people favorably remember you. Of note:

In American elections there are no losers, because whether or not our candidates win or lose, the next morning we wake up as Americans.

Amen, Mr. Kerry. Amen.
