Blackfive has posted a letter from Sergeant Mike Stutzke - a soldier in the Washington Army National Guard - who was home on leave recently from Iraq.
Sgt. Stutzke’s letter represents how the vast majority of Americans feel about our soldiers, despite the smear campaign of the main stream liberal media.
…I would like to share some of the experiences I had while traveling across our great country….
Most started out the conversation by asking where I was going, or where I was coming from, others asked if I had been in Iraq. When I told people I was on leave from Iraq, they all made some kind of physical contact, shaking hands, putting a hand on my shoulder or arm, and a surprising number hugged me….
Double-time over to Blackfive now and read the entire letter.
It reminds me of the story my brother (a SSG on full-time recruiter duty in south Texas) told me:
A while back his recruiting station needed a new couch. He was tasked with procuring a new couch for under $500, so he went to Houston’s most famous furniture store, Jim “Mattress Mac†McInvale’s Gallery Furniture.
Mattress Mac is almost always the first person you see when you walk in the front door. And when my brother walked in wearing his Class A’s, Mattress Mac greeted him and asked him what he was looking for.
When my brother explained his mission, Mac helped my brother pick out a room full of furniture: a new leather couch and recliner, an entertainment center, a large TV, and a bookcase.
And then donated it all to the soldiers at my brother’s recruiting station.
