This Saturday, when the Dallas Mavs host the Atlanta Hawks, about 140 soldiers who were wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan (and are now recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center near San Antonio), will be sitting in the front row.

American Airlines (based in Dallas), has donated a charted private jet to fly the soldiers from San Antonio to Dallas for Saturday’s game.

Season-ticket holder Neal Hawks, who started donating tickets to soldiers last year, got 133 other first row ticket owners to donate their tickets also. It would have been nice if a Spurs season ticket holder would have or could come up with the same initiative…thus saving these wounded soldiers from the extra hassle of having to fly to another city.

Let’s hope some more of the NBA’s players thugs don’t decide to head into the stands again.

On second thought, I’d put my money on the soldiers–regardless of their wounds and injuries.

Not to knock Mr. Hawks wonderful gesture, but don’t you think our soldiers deserve and earned more than tickets to a game against the 4-18 Hawks? Do the Mavs not play the 2-19 Hornets in Dallas soon? You probably could have talked at least 15000 ticket holders to not go to that game.

Got something you want to say?
