The Today Show anchor Katie Couric is the latest in a growing line of names being bandied about to replace Dan Rather at CBS.

I think it’s well past time that a woman was given the opportunity to anchor the news at one of the old-school Big Three Networks:

But she [Jill Geisler, head of the management program at the Poynter Institute] adds that viewers might accept Couric as an evening anchor because they could see her as less biased and more human.

“Whoever is put in that position, male or female, will need to work very hard to build a constituency,” Geisler says. “The person replacing Rather has to be credible, trustworthy and likable.”

What’s not said here, but is strongly implied and now widely accepted, is that Dan Rather is no longer credible, trustworthy, nor likable.

The more I think about the thinking of CBS, I’ll betcha Katie is picked to permanently replace Danny.

I finally got fed up with the ‘Katie Couric..”let me show you some leg”…Show’ ! and the ‘high school-monotone, “let me answer the question I asked you myself” journalist’..guest interviews she gives. Don’t get me wrong , I think she is a fine woman and I don’t dislike seeing nice legs either , but the Today Show has really ‘downsized’ itself of late.

[...] This isn’t new news…I wrote that Katie Couric would be Danny Rather’s replacment and the next anchor at CBS news back on December 29, 2004. [...]
