Hear, hear!

While I got riled up about the red and blue bracelets…I couldn’t agree more with putting the politics aside and doing something positive for our fallen military members.

I highly encourage you to purchase one of these bracelets for yourself…and maybe some more for your friends and family. Can you honestly argue with the good that the money will do…based on the sacrifice of the man or woman that has his/her name engraved on the bracelet?

See you on the high ground…you’d better have your bracelet. That’s an order!

I want to thank you for supporting us with the HeroBracelet project. In the two short months that the Web site has been up, we’ve raised almost $40,000 for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

The money we’ve raised is great, but to me the most powerful thing we’ve done is show our troops currently deployed in the Middle East that we are honoring thier hard work, and honoring those that have lost their lives. We’ve had hundreds of email from troops thanking us for putting this project together. We’ve even had quite a few people donate to buy bracelets for these guys. We’ve been able to send bracelets for a whole Marine unit that lost a man, as well as an Army unit that lost 6 men. All paid for by total strangers.

We’ve had a lot of response from families that have lost loved ones and we’ve been able to provide them with bracelets too, paid for by total strangers.

Overall, the project has been a very humbling experience for everyone involved. For me personally, it has been the most powerful thing I have ever done. The thousands of email and letters have proven to me that we are a country of good souls, wanting to reach out and help people we have never met. The letters we’ve received would change the mind of the toughest cynic.

So thank you all for your overwhelming support. We will keep making bracelets and hope to send a lot of money to the families that have lost the most.

I’ve had nothing but problems trying to order hero bracelets. I placed my order a month ago and have sent multiple e-mails to the company to try to find out what’s going on. The first response I received said they should arrive in 3 weeks maximum. Then a week ago, I contacted them again and got a response stating that I should have received my order by now and they’re looking into it. Now, a week later, I finally just gave up and told them to cancel the order and refund my money. I understand that they are very busy but their customer service has been so poor and impersonal that I am loathe to deal with them again or to recommend anyone else to order from them.

I’m sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience with Hero Bracelets. I live just a few miles from their shop here i Austin, and it still took nearly a month before I received my order.

I have had problems with the Hero Bracelet. I placed an order in Jan. of this year and as of this date, April 6th, I have not received the bracelet. What is up????? I have an order receipt #2399

Betty and Judith:

Some good news concerning your bracelets—I contacted Chris Greta, the Director of HeroBracelets.org, and informed him of your comments.

He responded with the following email:

Robbie,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

First, tell them to contact us if they can (info@herobracelets.org). We’ll take care of it asap.

We’ve made a LOT of changes since we started, all for the better. When we first started shipping bracelets, they were shipped flat in an envelope. We found that every so often, the post office would return a shipment that had been destroyed in the mail. Most had the shipping address intact, so we were able to reship. But some had no address, so we didn’t know who the order was meant for and were unable to reship.

We’ve since then dramatically improved the bracelets and all our processes. We now ship them all pre-shaped and in padded envelopes, so they arrive in perfect condition. Live and learn I guess!

Any time we hear from someone who has not received their bracelet, we dig into it right away and figure out what happened.

We’ve found the following:

1. The package was destroyed by the postal sorting machines
2. The address entered had a problem and didn’t make it (some were returned and we had to try to contact.)
3. The order didn’t go through on the credit card.
4. We were just dingbats and missed something (we’re part time and volunteers but we’ve made a lot of progress in the last month and we’ve seemed to eliminated any problems with better technology and better systems).

The good news is, that things are working VERY well now and we’ve become very efficient and we have very few ordering problems, and those that do come up are solved quickly.

We’ve also:

1. Developed our third-generation of HeroBracelet, and it’s by far the best. It’s the best quality of any bracelet we’ve seen anywhere. It took a lot of experimentation to get it perfect, but everyone is very happy with the results.
2. Just introduced a new DogTag for the Memorial HeroBraceletss.
4. Now have the full database of Iraq and Afghanistan updated several times a week on the site.
5. Full database of Vietnam.
6. Deployed HeroBracelets. We’re now able to make a khaki/brown bracelets for troops deployed worldwide.
7. International shipping. We’ve got orders from around the world (it’s pretty nice to see Italians, Poles, Canadians and more wanting to do something to show their respect for our troops).
7. Next Steps. We are working with the Purple Heart Association to produce a bracelet for them.

We’ve shipped almost 30,000 bracelets since December (which equals around $60,000.00 for the Fallen Heroes Fund!)

So my apologies to anyone that didn’t get a bracelet they ordered. Get in touch with us and we’ll get you your bracelets right away.
