The natural state of mankind is instead - and I know this is a controversial idea - is freedom… is freedom. And the proof is the length to which a man, woman or child will go to regain it once taken.

— Anthony Hopkins as John Quincy Adams in Amistad.

In Iraq today, Ryan from Cigars in the Sand notes:

“Some voters today will, without a doubt, be killed either on their way to vote, waiting to vote, or actually voting. Will I risk my life today for democracy?”

And they Iraqi people have answered loud and clear: Yes. These men and women have been waiting their entire lives to make this kind of political statement.

What more proof do you–all of you who still claim to oppose this war–need as to the lengths that at least 72% of Iraqis will go to regain their freedom?

If you can sit in the comfort of your well heated home and watch the determination of the Iraqi people on this historic election day, and still oppose our efforts there…then, as Cold Fury stated yesterday:

You on the Left are not seriously concerned about the security of this nation. You are dead wrong, and you do not deserve to be taken seriously.

Got something you want to say?
