One more glaring example of the MSM’s rabid quest to report nothing but negative stories coming out of Iraq.
The AP reported the following today:
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Iraqi militants claimed in a Web statement Tuesday to have taken an American soldier hostage and threatened to behead him in 72 hours unless the Americans release Iraqi prisoners. The U.S. military said it was investigating, but the claim’s authenticity could not be immediately confirmed.
Here’s the picture that accompanies the story:
.
Well, it didn’t take the blogoshere more than a few hours to reveal this as a hoax. You see, the problem with the story is that the soldier in the picture? Well, it’s a GI Joe doll.

Unbelievably hysterical: 1) that the MSM was duped by this, and 2) that Iraqi insurgents terrorists are so desperate that–when they are unable to capture an actual US soldier–they used a doll.
Even funnier? All the items found in the toy set–the knee pads, the M-16 (not an AK-47), and the flak vest–are used to stage the picture.
CBS will probably report that the picture was “fake but accurate”.
In related breaking news, a buxumous blonde American and her surfer boyfriend were captured while driving her pink corvette through the streets of Tikrit.

Hilarious. Can you imagine the terrorist meeting that this was suggested?
Hey Mohammed, were you able to catch a soldier?
Not exactly, Jabeeb, but I got a great deal on E-bay…
