Demise of the MSM

Eason Jordan Resigns…

…Read All About it on Page 12 of the Entertainment Section

Rather than admit the truth about his slanderous and liberal-biased remarks, Eason Jordan took the cowards route and resigned. Dont’ get me wrong, he should resign (before he can be fired). But on his way out the door, he should be demanding the video tape of the Davos conference be released…you know, to help remove the ‘tarnish’ from his network.

This story has been almost completely ignored by the mainstream media. Now that Mr. Jordan has resigned, you’d think this would be some headline grabbing stuff. Hell, even this little daily-read blog has reported on this story three times more often than even CBS News has.

So, I checked the CNN.com Web site. Nothing on the front page. Where did CNN decide to hide this story? On the 12th tab down in their Navigation bar; nonsensically, in the Entertainment section.

CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan resigned Friday, saying the controversy over his remarks about the deaths of journalists in Iraq threatened to tarnish the network he helped build.

Uh, actually, Mr. Jordan, you tarnished the network you helped to build—the controversy did not do any tarnishing.

UPDATE: For a complete retrospective, read Michelle Malkin’s thorough recap.

UPDATE II: Over at Who Can Really Say, they have posted a great wrap-up with the following perfect questions:

Which brings us back full circle to the beginning. If the President of a major news network has a basis for stating in a public forum that US troops kill journalists on purpose, why isn’t his network reporting on it? And if he didn’t have a basis for saying it, then why did he say it? And if he didn’t say it, then why is he giving up so easily?

UPDATE III: I watched CNN news last night for about 2 hours. Not a single word—not even on the News Ticker—about the biggest news of the day in their own company. As of yesterday, the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and USA Today had not carried a staff-written story, and the CBS, NBC and ABC nightly news programs had not reported the matter. Jeff Jarvis notes that the big MSM must be quite embarrassed today:

I would have to think that this morning… [the MSM] … are or should be embarrassed that they are reporting the dramatic climax of a story they never told their readers about.
