Well, today, one of Villareal’s ‘fellow gang members’—Jose Medellin—who helped to rape and murder those two young girls, is looking to have his death sentence commuted. Not because of his innocence. Nobody, not even Medellin, claims he’s innocent of the crimes he’s sitting on death row for. Medellin’s biggest mistake was not being under the age of 18 when he committed rape and murder.

When I was a college kid, I sold books door-to-door one summer. Worst. Job. Ever. So you might think that I have sympathy for door-to-door salesman, regardless of what they’re pitching—be it books, magazine subscriptions, salvation, or politics.
