Sex Offenders Registry

Let’s Meet my Well-To-Do Sicko Neighbors

You’ve undoubtedly heard of the kidnapping, rape, and murder of 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford at the hands of 46-year-old John Evander Couey.

Jessica’s father, Mark Lunsford, has stated that he would like to have a few minutes alone with Couey. I don’t blame him. If I were in his place, I would want the same thing.

Since our laws won’t allow Mr. Lunsford 15 minutes alone with the man who killed his daughter, I can only hope that the rumors of what happens to child rapists in prison are true.

I took Michelle Malkin’s advice and checked the sex offender registry in my area, as Couey—a known child molester—was living less than 100 yards from the Lunsford home.

I would have been very surprised to find more than a handful of registered sex offenders in our zip code (78746). And, a quick glance shows that there are only two:

  • Luis Antonio Diaz — 43 years old, convicted of Indecency w/child Sexual Contact with a 7 year old girl in 1991. Diaz was sentenced to 20 years, but is currently out on parole.
  • John Stephen Grosenheider — 45 years old, convicted of Poss. Promotion of Child Pornography on 02/25/2000. Grosenheider was sentenced to 3 years probation.

What I do find surprising, though, is where these two say they live*.

Diaz’ home of record is at 5005 Mantle, 78746. A quick look at the Travis County Central Appraisal District tax roll, shows that Mr. Diaz is living in the 4,392 sq. ft. $774,312 home of David Barroso (friend, relative, lawyer?).

Meanwhile, Mr. Grosenheider’s registered home of record is 3005 Stratford Dr, 78746. This $609,542 home owned by Delno & Margaret Grosenheider (his parents?) sits high up on a cliff overlooking Town Lake in one of Austin’s most exclusive neighborhoods.

* Makes me wonder if the addresses where these two men say they live are the same place where they actually live.

Maybe it’s just me — but I wonder how a guy who had sex with a 7-year-old girl and was recently released from a long prison stint affords to live in a $775K home overlooking the lake and a private golf course? What job pays that well that doesn’t check (or care) if you’re a convicted child molester or felon (the only ones I can think of involve Professional sports, rap music, and drug dealing)?

Because of the links posted on Michelle Malkins site I did a quick check of my old 78664 zip in Round Rock and was amazed at the # of registered sex offenders in that zip. There seemed to be a disproportionate # of offenders in that zip code compared to others I searched. This may have something to do with the difference between the criminal justice system in Williamson County as opposed to Travis County. The population demographics say Travis County should have a higher # of offenders.

UG, great work doing your homework to learn more about the child-molestor-next-door. Those factoids about them living in the lap of luxury is intriguing and opens up all sorts of speculations: are rich people disproportionately committing these crimes? If so, why?

Actually, a closer look at the registry would prove the opposite of this to be true.

In Austin, the 78746 zip code is easily the most influential/wealthy area of town. And there are only two registered sex offenders.

Check any other zip code in Austin, and you’ll find more than two. There are 15 registered in mid-Austin’s 78751 zip code; and in one of Austin’s poorest areas, 78741, there are 102 registered sex offenders.

There is simply nothing that can be done with sex offenders, other than locking them up for life.
I am not sure why they ever let them go. They cannot be “rehabilitated”. Once something has gone down into the limbic, or “animal” part of the brain, it is there forever. It cannot be undone. Period. It cannot be counseled, it cannot be controlled with medicine, and even if medicine did temporarily control it, you cannot trust these people to stay on it.
If some idiot psychologist or psychiatrist (and believe me there are WAY TOO MANY) is able to convince a panel to let these monsters out, the very least they should do is force the offender to undergo surgery for implants that would track them for life. It would not stop the offender, but they could be tracked “after the fact”. So so so very sad.

That’s just it ….”After the fact.” I don’t see how ankle bracelets and or I.D. chips would even be much help. God only knows how many have come through the borders with God only knows how many murders they were never prosecuted for …by the time they get here ,they know how NOT TO BE FOUND and how to feed their habbit without raising suspicion. Not to mention a new crop of perverts springing up from every generation.
The probation system greatly feeds this situation . It’s a big government “Cash Cow.” The criminals get arrested , get a “Public Pretender” , cop a Plea Bargain , pay the probation dept. every month , pay to go to counseling every week …violate impossible probation stipulations , go back to jail ,pay big bail money again, get another “Public Pretender” , another Plea Bargain , pay the probation dept. every month , pay the counseler every week …. when you follow the money trail , it is not hard to figure out WHY the system ISN’T working . Why else would it be against the law to drink and drive and o.k. to line the roads with bars and use our money to put a cop in the parking lot of every one of them ?.

A quick search of the GBI database indicates 7 or more child molestors and sex offenders just right around the corner from our home. No one has been a notified about these people living in our area. I found this information only by searching as a concerned parent. The area is filled with young kids, schools, playgrounds etc, etc. Don’t expect your government or politicians to protect you or your family in any way. I trust noone with my child period. It’s a sad testiment to our society.

I want to post signs of these people all over the area (especially in the neighborhoods where they live). Is there some law that prevents this?

i live in a elderly and disabled high rise in Sandusky Ohio, we have several sex offenders that live there. My husband and I checked the web sight which we had to pay for(this I think should be free) and found out they live in our little community but we are not allowed to put flyers through out of our building. One is a 30 something women that got a 13 year old drunk and took advantage of him, she thinks there is nothing wrong in what she has done.

I have a child who was molested by David John Cullerton in Long Beach Mississippi in late 93 early 94. I have since learned that he molested other children in 1989, 1992, and again in 1997. I found court documents from the State of Washington where he served time in prision - this is his 4th or 5th offence - what is he doing on the streets to do it again?

I went to Google.com and found all the information.

Hello i just would like to say that i dont think that it is right for men to be able to live in a public place that has kids in the neighborhood…….my daughter is 6 yrs old now and was sexually molested by her father when she was a baby and no one wanted to believe me until her aunt (her dads step sister) stood up and said you know what he has been doing it to me for the last 9 yrs…and i am pregnant by him and then the family and legal system wanted to do something about it. So to me that is not right…my daughter had to continue to see this man after all of that….and once her aunt stood up and said something then the legal system stepped up and said no more visitaion for him.

My father is a retired prison guard, so we also do a sex offender registry check for the county we are potentially moving into. Also, be sure to go to the police station and check the criminal history records as they are public and will let you know how many break-ins and what not have been recorded. We’re living in a beautiful, little Texas community now in short walking distance of two schools as well as my college and figured the numbers would be low. There is 25 registered sex offenders. I thought there was a law against sex offenders living in the vicinity of a school district!
