Texas Women’s Championships and Bowling Green Amateur Championships

Just a reminder that this weekend is the first annual Texas Women’s Championships in disc golf. The tournament, being held at the Cat Hollow disc golf course in Round Rock, is expected to host the largest women’s field ever in a disc golf tournament*.

If you are a woman (or young girl) that plays disc golf, this weekend is your best chance to compete against large fields of other women. If you are a woman interested in learning more about this sport, come on out on Saturday or Sunday and watch some of the best female disc golfers in the world compete.

If you’re a guy, head out to Cat Hollow and help support this huge event.

* The previous largest women’s field was at the 2005 United States Women’s Disc Golf Championships, where 51 Pro and Amateur women competed.

I wish I could be there this weekend, but I’m flying out to Bowling Green, KY on Thursday morning to get ready to play in this weekend’s Bowling Green Amateur Championships. With the exception of The PDGA Amatuer Championship and the United States Amateur Disc Golf Championships, the Bowling Green Am. Championships boasts the largest and best amateur fields in the nation. Last year’s BGAC drew 330 players from across the country. This year’s field should be just as large.

This will be my first out-of-state tournament, as well as my largest to-date, so wish me luck.
