Lebanese Protestors

…Are so Much Hotter than US Protestors

What? You hadn’t noticed? Glenn Reynolds has noticed. So has Logical Meme.

UPDATE: Dean Esmay has noticed too, and adds these thoughts:

I say, can we help it if women who support ending dictatorships are hot?

It reminds me of something P.J. O’Rourke once said about how in politics you can tell which side is likely to be the victors: they’ll be the ones with the most pretty women.

Every time you turn on the news or pick up a magazine…there’s another beautiful, young Lebanese woman protesting in the streets of Beirut. Like this young woman:

Lebanese Hottie #1

You know what else I’m struck by? How happy they look…there is joy in their protests, optimism in their eyes. Compare that to the dourness and complete pessimism of most US protestors (not to mention the complete lack of any hotties).

We need more of this:

More Hotties and this: Lebanese Hottie #2

And less of this:

Dowdy US protestors

The biggest difference in the Lebanese protestors and US protestors (other than their hottness, obviously) is that the Lebanese protestors’ joy stems from being on the right side of history.

  1. Nice and shallow.

History is written by the winners.

  2. Guilty as charged about my shallowness for noting the hotness factor of Lebanese protestors vs. US protestors.

But I stand by my point on their smiles, their joy, and their optimism for democracy. And my point on how that contrasts so vividly with typical US protestors.

I just find it ironic to see folks on this side of the pond with such sad and serious faces protesting against the very thing that those on the other side of the pond (and directly in the line of fire) are protesting for (with their previously noted smiles and enthusiasm).

  4. Maybe because the US protesters have seen democracy in action. :)

  6. Intelligent, freedom-loving chicks RULE.

    Nancy Pelosi/Barbara Boxer/Hillary Clinton clones suck–and I don’t mean that in any good way…

  9. I happen to be lebanese and I can tell you when the lebanese people get together it’s always a celebration!!! On top of those gilrs being HOT they have an unbreakable SPIRIT which keep them going in such an unstable political environment. They embrace each moment of their life to the fullest and never forget to look their best even during a period of war!!!

It was so clever of you to make this comparaison
