I’m back from our trip to San Saba, TX for the 2005 PDGA Amateur World Doubles Championships.

Last year, my brother Marty and I placed 11th out of 36 teams in our division. This year, I’m proud to report that we improved our 4-round score by 13 throws to finish in 2nd place (5 throws behind Taylor Reid/Blake Betts of Abilene, TX) out of 34 teams in our division.

It was a bittersweet tournament though, knowing that this is possibly the last tournament to be held at the Circle R2 Ranch in San Saba. Owner John Houck has put the 379-acre ranch up for sale. Hopefully another disc golf enthusiast buys the property…but that is rather unlikely. It’s sad to think that such amazing views and spectacular golf holes will just disappear, never to be played again.
