…The Scabs and Skunkweed

Our very good friends (Jay Brown and Leon Waddy of Skunkweed) are opening tonight at Antone’s for the Bob Schneider-fronted The Scabs (formerly Ugly Americans).

Here’s how Antone’s describes our friends at Skunkweed:

Skunkweed is alcohol-fueled, raunchy, irreverent, country, rock, reggae, rap, folk, funk, pop, party, Irish, drinking music. The band features Jay Brown on lead vocals and guitar, Leon Waddy on keys, Roger Garcia on trumpet and percussion, Dave James on bass, and James Cervantes on drums.

I’m biased because of our friendships…but Skunkweed is easily the most entertaining and original live band playing in Central and South Texas. If you’re in the Austin-area tonight, check them out (door open at 9:00, concert starts at 10:00).

Sounds like a potent combination. I suppose we shouldn’t expect any early Saturday morning bloging from you…

Actually, I will be up early tomorrow morning (despite what will probably be a bar-closing night)…but not for blogging.

I have a 8:45 tee time for golf (not disc…but conventional ‘ball’ golf) with three of my best friends.

I foresee a very long nap when I get home tomorrow afternoon.

Ouch. Somehow, getting out of school robbed me of the ability to have consecutive late nights and early mornings. TV is a closer friend than I thought it could be.

Drink a lot of water!

Have a good time…don’t do anything I wouldn’t do…you’ll be safe…haha

i play bass for skunkweed. we had a blast. hope you enjoyed the show. the scbs rocked!

Got something you want to say?
