There’s a reaon that BlackFive was named the 2004 MilBlog of the Year. But what you might not have known is why Matt started blogging. In his own words:

I started Blackfive and decided to write about Mat and other Americans like him — people that Newsweek would never tell you about.

The Mat that BlackFive refers to was his friend Major Mathew Earl Schram, who was killed in an ambush in Iraq on Memorial Day, 2003. Just another reason to hate the fucktard-cowards at Newsweek.

As Badexample put it: “Oh, and fuck you, Newsweek.”

Indeed.
