I quit smoking 2 years ago today, and have not had a single relapse (not even one cigarette—not even a single drag).
As I previously wrote, quiting was not hard. In fact, it was easier to quit smoking than it was to start.
Here are my SilkQuit Meter numbers as of two minutes ago:
Two years, 14 hours, 4 minutes and 30 seconds. 20484 cigarettes not smoked, saving $2,345.47. Life saved: 10 weeks, 1 day, 3 hours, 0 minutes.

Assume that it takes about 4 minutes to smoke each cigarette (not to mention time spent looking for a lighter, stopping to buy more smokes, walking down 3 flights of steps to the smoking area, etc.), that’s 81936 minutes–or 56.9 days. Almost two entire months.
In other words, over the course of the last two years, I would have spent two entire months huffing on a cigarette. Yikes.

Back from longer than expected trip..and I see this. How funny. I am dying for a cigarette as I read this. As of today, I am 3 days smoke free. I have chewed so much nicorette my jaw hurts. I hope I make it this time. My mother had a stroke right before my very eyes when I was up in Wisconsin. (She doesn’t smoke but I know what cigs can do). Anyhow, it was a very light stroke and a full recovery is expected. She is now in rehab. I committed the next day to quit once and for all. Congrats Robbie on your success. I only hope I can do the same.

What part of Wisconsin were you in? I spent two wonderful years in Eau Claire, and another turbulent year in Antigo (back in the late 80s – early 90s…

I’m from Wisconsin. Born and raised in LaCrosse. You probably know where that is Robbie as it is not too far south of Eau Claire right on the Mississippi. A gorgeous place framed with heavily treed bluffs overlooking the rivers. I own a house in a little town about 30 miles south of La Crosse..a Norweigan community where my parents grew up and I am everybody’s cousin…lol The countryside is dotted with picture perfect farmhouses and the dirt is the best in the world. Before mom got sick we planted lots of flowers and took out on the rural roads where a lot of Amish live and we really enjoyed ourselves. It was wash day and every place we passed had clotheslines full of towels and skirts and pants etc blowing in the wind. We stopped by Fanny’s place, a 70+ Amish woman. Fanny raises perennials and has a whole yard full of flowers and you pick them and Fanny digs them for you..$2.50 a piece. Then there was the annual Norweigan Independence Day Festival..as you can imagine the beer was flowing and the brats were simply delicious and of course there was a polka or two (not me…lol).
It’s what I truly live for…and nobody thinks about Bush or Clinton or any other politico.
