…Apology Not Accepted
Remember these words from just a few short days ago?
I’m certainly not going to be intimidated by the right-wing message machine,” he said. “If I’m going to back off every time they decide their unhappy with my statements, then I really won’t be doing my job.
– Dick Durbin, 6/17/05
A chocked-up and emotional Dick Durbin today apologized. But, in true Democrat-fashion, he was merely sorry that people were offended by what he said. He wasn’t sorry for what he said:
“I’m sorry if anything that I said caused any offense or pain to those who have such bitter memories of the Holocaust, the greatest moral tragedy of our time.”
And the reason that Durbin can’t sincerely apologize for what he said—comparing US Soldiers and their treatment of Gitmo enemy combatants to that of the Nazi death camps, Stalin’s gulags, and Pol Pot’s killing fields—is because he believes what he said is true.
And it’s because of this, Dick, that your apology is not accepted. You are still, in the eyes of this US Army veteran, a traitor. However, I will acccept your resignation. Because, in your own words, Dick, you’re not doing your job.
Sadly, though, there will be those who accept your bullshit apology, such as John McCain, the capitulating RINO Senator:
“I would like to say that the senator from Illinois, he did the right thing, the courageous thing, and I believe we can put this issue behind us.”
Um…no. We won’t put this ‘behind us’ until Durbin has resigned AND until the Democratic party stops their US military defamation campaign.
