Someone’s Going to Get Shot

Because of Kelo v. New London

In March, I bemoaned a Supreme Court decision in which Justices Kennedy, Breyer, Souter, Stevens, and Ginsburg decided to base US Constitutional decisions on International opinion—and in doing so, allowed hundreds of murders who were condemned to die by a jury of their peers to be spared.

These justices think kids under 18 are wise and mature enough to get abortions on their own without parental consent—yet the same 17 year old isn’t culpable when it comes to raping and murdering the little kid that lives next door to them.

So yesterday—when SCOTUS ruled against the defendant in Kelo v. New London—it came as no surprise to see which five justices voted to allow local governments to seize your private property (yes, as in your house) and hand it off to private business or industry.

The Fab Five of SCOTUS (Kennedy, Breyer, Souter, Stevens, and Ginsburg) seem to have formed a voting alliance, and their intent seems to be radical and inconsistent interpretations of our Constitution.

If this was American Idol or Survivor, you can bet your ass that Americans would vote one of the Fab Five off the bench to break up their unholy alliance.

When I got to work this morning, I asked Fred—the 61-year old retired Marine Master Sergeant that I share an office with—what he thought about the decision. “Someone’s going to get shot”, was Fred’s straight answer.

And here in Texas, where we take our property rights deadly serious, I don’t think he’s far from the truth.

  1. I’m outraged. This morning on MSNBC BOTH Ron Reagan Jr and Monica Crowley were outraged. Their poll was showing 97% opposition to this ruling. What the hell is the matter with our Supreme Court anyhow? It’s time to take back our country. If this had been run through Congress, it never would have passed, by either Democrats or Republicans. Some states (Georgia, New Jersey, etc.) say their laws forbid private taking of property of this type no matter what the Supreme Court says.

I was on a City Planning Commission (I resigned..couldn’t stand the crap), but I bet Planning Commissions all over the country are celebrating tonight and can’t wait to start their rampage.

Is there nothing we, the public, can do about this?
