“Today is a good day to die”
David Martinez was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m. last night, eight minutes after the lethal drugs began flowing into his veins.
Kiersa Paul’s parents watched their daughter’s killer die, but did not comment. I think their presence was comment enough.
With his eyes closed, Martinez delivered his final statement without directly addressing either the Paul family or his own:
“Only the sky and the green grass goes on forever, and today is a good day to die,” he said, paraphrasing a Native American saying.
Actually, the day before he murdered Kiersa would have been a much better day for him to have died. Or any one of the earlier 2421 days that Martinez spent on death row (the earlier the better) would have also been a good day for him to die for his crimes.

Martinez did not request a last meal. So, DeadManEating will not be able to post the menu.
Gary Lynn Sterling is the next Texas death row inmate slated for a date with the gurney (August 1oth).

Justice was served. Kiersa was a very close and special person to me, I miss her very much.
