Christopher Walken for President in ‘08
When I first saw this, I thought it must be a joke or a marketing ad for an upcoming movie:
New York – Early today, actor Christopher Walken, 62, held a private conference at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York in which he announced his intentions to run for the Presidency of the United States in the 2008 Election.
Said the Queens native, “I have always been a follower of politics. My father was friends with the mayor of Schodack (NY) back in the 1940’s. We would walk the streets of Schodack and the people, they would wave to him. The children adored him. That is what I love to be, a man of respect and love.â€
I don’t know much about Christopher Walken’s politics. But if he announces Sean Penn for VP, I wouldn’t be surprised. We could then look forward to Susan Sarandon as Secretary of State, Tim Robbins playing Secretary of Defense, Janeane Garofalo acting as Attorney General, Barbara Streisand as Secretary of Education, and maybe Mick Jagger as his Ambassador to the UN. Look for an Adam Sandler cameo somewhere along the way—that’s the way those guy’s roll.
Sorry, but I’m just not taking this very seriously. There’s no way he can displace Hillary on the Left. And over here on the right—where we’ve shown that we’re not adverse to electing a Hollywood actor to the Presidency—we’d like to see you give it a whirl at an office a step or two below that of President before we hand over the keys to the entire thing.
I’ll be glad to see him run as in Independent. Nobody on the right would vote for a politically unproven Hollywood Limo-liberal. And he might drag a significant bunch of voters away from the less-camera friendly Hillary.
