I support the troops. I don't support this war or the President's agenda over there. These statements don't conflict.

While our troops are there, I want them to have the best intelligence (not John Bolton-esque edited intelligence), equipment (why don't they have sufficient night-vision goggles and scopes for their rifles?), armor (homemade?), and tactics. I want every one of them to come home...soon. They should not be dying for the President's lies.

We should welcome them home as heroes who survived (or didn't) an unjust war. Supporting our troops does not mean approving of their presence where they don't belong. We need a withdrawal plan that brings every single soldier home no later than Christmas 2007.

I'm the same way. When people know that there is a very real possibility that I will punch them in the cake hole if they get stupid and disrespectful with me in person, it actually encourages and facilitates civil debate and discussion---even though we might disagree on the topic.

Often the threat of physical attack is more than enough to keep idiots from acting like...well...idiots. Unfortunately, you can't reach into cyberspace and smack those who need it most.

I got to the point of telling people I met up front that if they said to me, "Do you know why they hate us?" I would have to punch their lights out. They would then say, "Do you always solve disagreements by violence?"

And, I would say, "Yes!"
