Civil Rights: For Almost Everybody

More stupid news from Houston

So, it’s Ok for a public swimming pool to rent out their pool for a Muslims-only Pool Party (paid for by a publicly-funded, non-profit organization no-less) — but it’s not OK for a city to rent a public building to the KKK?

Dammit, people, you’re putting me in the position of having to defend the KKK (more accurately, in the position of having to defend their rights).

Corey Irving of Tomball, TX (near Houston) is suing the City of Tomball for renting out a community hall to the KKK.

Lawsuit accuses Tomball of racism

…he (Irving) and two others had filed the civil rights lawsuit. It was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Houston by the Texas Civil Rights Project on behalf of Irving, Rona Smith and Christina O’Toole.

The lawsuit claims the plaintiffs’ civil rights were violated when the city rented a public community center to the White Camelia Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

So, I guess the Texas Civil Rights Project only defends those civil rights that they agree with. I mean, a bunch of white, redneck-racists couldn’t possibly have any civil rights of their own…

According to one of the plaintiffs:

“The city should not rent out buildings to any organization that promotes hate or racism,” O’Toole said.

Is she talking about the Muslim swim party or the KKK meeting?

  1. your a dumbass. Last I checked, there is very little similarities between a muslim only party, and the KKK gathering. One is JUST a party….. the other is quite offensive. Get your facts straight. You now look like a dumbass, comparing a party to a KKK gathering.
