Thank God for men like this
My brother, Sergeant First Class (SFC) Marty, US Army, worked a full workday as the commander of his US Army recruiting station in League City, Texas. After boarding up his home and then assisting the soldiers in his command to board up their own homes, he packed up his family and made the 16.5 hour, 200-mile drive to our home in Austin.
Upon arriving in Austin around noon today, he spent the next two hours at the emergency room with his 3-year old daughter getting her prescription medicine refilled.
Despite only 1 hour of sleep in the last 34 hours, he still has a job to do and soldiers he is responsible for.
He has spent the last two hours calling and returning the calls of the 11 soldiers that work for him. He’s making sure each soldier understands their orders, and making sure that each one of them has found safety for themselves and their families.
His professionalism and devotion to his troops, amidst a difficult and tiring ordeal of his own, is a credit to his unit and to the U.S. Army.

Those soldiers are a special breed. Our prayers are with them all, their families and those in the path of Hurricane Rita.
