I’m a vocal proponent of the death penalty, and I often write about the inhuman animals that have been condemned to die, and the crimes they committed to deserve the death penalty.
As such, I get a lot of anti-death penalty commentors on my site. A lot of them (they are almost always women, and frequently from Western Europe) appear to be death row groupies — women who have fallen for these killers, rapists, and child molesters.
These women become pen pals to these deathrow inmates, often flying thousands of miles to meet them in prison. Many of these women fall in love with their new pen pals. A common theme is that they all believe their inmates are innocent men, condemned by a corrupt justice system.
One defense lawyer, who asked not be named, said some women, who might lead dull everyday lives, seemed to be attracted by the thrill of danger and the glamour of being associated with a convicted killer.
How pathetic. How sad.
But who are these women?
Agnes-Lisa from Frankfurt, Germany — Agnes-Lisa is a big fan of Ron Howard, who was executed in Texas on Oct 6, 2005 for killing a cop.
But that didn’t stop Agnes-Lisa from believing he was a good guy who was simply wrongly convicted:

Then there is Lene from Stavanger, Rogaland (Norway) (also known as Cassi at LostVault.com, a prisoner-penpal groupie forum).
Lene is a rabid prisoner penpal, claiming that she writes letters every single day. One of her current Deathrow boyfriends is Lee Andrew Taylor (pictured at right).
What crime did Lee get “unjustly” convicted of? While serving a life sentence for Aggravated Robbery, Taylor fatally stabbed another black inmate multiple times with an 8″ home-made weapon. Taylor and one co-defendant had engaged in a fight with the victim due to racial tension between Taylor and the victim. Taylor was a member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas.
Nice guy, eh? Someone you’d want your daughter to visit and make friends with in prison?
Lene has also befriended Bobby Lee Hines.
Bobby had a long juvenile history of crime, including beating up an 80-year old lady from his church. He had just been released to a 10-year probation for burglary of a building, and then in the same month (Oct of 1990), Bobby robbed and murdered 26-year old Michelle Wendy Haupt. She was stabbed repeatedly with an ice pick and strangled with a cord inside her apartment in Dallas. Hines was staying next door to Haupt, with the complex’s maintenance man, who had master keys to all units. Items from her apartment were found in his possession, and he had scratches on his face and neck from his struggle with Haupt.

Hines’ appeals have all been on the defense that he is mentally retarded…not that he didn’t do it…they don’t even try to claim that he didn’t do it. But that doesn’t stop his Lene from crying that he is “innocent” on her MySpace site:
Bobby Lee Hines is wrongfully convicted and has spent 14.5 years on death row for a crime he didn’t commit.
Sigh. How sad. How pathetic.

This is a sad phenomenon that seems to be the current trend. They all profess them to be innocent too. How insane is that? The ones from Europe don’t bother me as much as the American weirdos. They watch our news, they see the crimes committed, and they choose not just an inmate, but one on death row? They must not have any life whatsoever.
The details of Bobby Hines case can be found with me as I have his entire file. Speaking of writing DR inmates DeaWelsh seems to have picked up the habit, but doesn’t like to get return mail!
Not every person that writes an inmate is a groupie… But it is very sick to copy and paste pictures and then post them on your own website… I am sure Lene will do something about that…

And as such, these images can be used per the Fair Use laws described in Section 107 of the United States Copyright Act, which allows for the use of copyrighted materials for certain purposes, such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.

If Church is the investigator, Hine’s execution is guaranteed. Pathetic is right. The amount of evidence against Hines is overwhelming. Why would you write to an inmate who so viciously took an innocent person’s life? Why do you think they care about you at all? If they had any respect for a human life other than their own they wouldn’t be there to begin with. Why not write to the families of the victims they killed? How could you care for a man who abducts, rapes, sodimizes, and rips all the skin off a two yeard old child with vice grips while she’s still alive before starngling her? Your sympathy for these pyschopaths demonstrates your mental illness. I think all of these groupies are very depressed individuals who need counseling!

You might wish to obtain legal advice with regard to your comment on photos and public domain.
An owner posting to the net does not lose his rights. the only license he gives is for replication and transmission within the Usenet system. Furtheremore, photos posted to the net against the owner’s wishes are violations of copyright.
Taking photos from Usenet and using them elsewhere such as on a website is copyright infringement, and you risk the severe penalties of piracy.
So might I suggest that you remove the photos from your blog?

Actually, I don’t have any qualms with writing to death row inmates. I can understand it being done as Christian outreach or book research.
But attempts at befriending these monsters…that I’ll never understand.

The trouble is Groupies are just plain nut cases. It is of no importance to me what they look like,where they are from,or just how nice their pet has conned them into believing he really is. What is however important is that we as pros send a very LOUD and very CLEAR message to our officials that we are tired of all the crap appeals. Some have the idea that writing inmates themself is the answer. But I don’t see many volunteers at the chamber doors. I plan to give PRO’s an anti free enviroment where the really workable ideas may be discussed.

Several, and Pam involved in all of them. Just as an example, if people like her don’t get to say exactly what they want to, another board is made up to give them “free speech”, which they then leave in a huff when they don’t get their way. And then they circle back to start the entire process again with the old boards.
A totally PRO board actually would be ideal. An educational forum without having to debate with anti’s at every turn. There are many things I don’t know about the legal aspects. Having every thread turn into anti-dp rants gets annoying at times. However, new boards take a long time to build up. That’s why it seems the same cast of characters wander around like gyspies.

i will tell you about my personal story and call me what you will i am the same good person i was befor this man came into my life.
i started out just a collage student unsure of my belifes about capital punishment. i wont go into all that but i discovered that i was opposed and appauled to what was taking place.
i decied as part of a school project to write a letter and just ask for help so i could make the grade well we continued to write and i have fallen in love but i am not (as are most) strange a matter afact i am a police officer so this was unlike me.
i never ment to develope feelings i live a fufilled life and have children so i stay busy. as a police officer its never dule or boring perhaps to exciting.i have no problem dating and am considerd very attractive so that also is not the case.what happend i cant exsplain nor do i wish the stress and burden that truley comes with falling in love with an inmate upon anyone.
i wish the feelings would not have happend but they heart has a mind of its own. love happens when and where you least exspect it. im not saying that this is typical. i know most are maybe a little off but dont compare us all .when you sterotype or judge just remember that in life everything comes full circle and maybe you will find yourself condemend or judged. its unfair so please keep your nasty comments private and seek another side of the coin.

I don’t think it’s an “attack”. I think it’s a valid point, and I’m waiting for an answer. I’ve heard a few psychologists say that women who love men in prison know exactly where their “love” is, and know they are the only woman in his life. They control the situation; visiting hours, etc. Their “relationship” is limited. I find myself wondering what they’d do in a real-life situation.

I do not write from a Christian stand point as I am not religious. I do, however, believe in human rights. ALL human rights. Even the rights of those that are guilty of taking other human lives. To me it doesn’t make much sense in stopping killing by killing.

What members on CCADP think of me isn’t really important to me. I am sure some were happy to see me go, some couldn’t care less if I stayed or not, and perhaps some that would like me to stick around. LostVault is a better board in my opinion. We have even gotten more members because of this blog.
I do not for one secone think that I know more about the death penalty than whoever else. I know what I know. You know what you know. We have different opinions whether it is right to use executions as a punishment or not.
You don’t have to like what I do. You don’t have to think I’m a great person. It doesn’t really matter to me what you think of me. If you want to call me a prison groupie and that makes you feel better, then go right ahead. I don’t usually stereo type people, but I know that for some people they desperately need to put people in groups so their world spins around and fits together.
You say you are glad I didn’t go as far as saying my “lover/friend/whater is a good person”. Well, I have three friends on the row. And they are good persons. I don’t condone the actions of which they are convicted of, but I do believe people can change. That can never undo their actions, and murder is never justified. I am not against punishment, but I believe life without parole is sufficiant.
But – I will save my breath for someone who is interested in hearing my views and debate with me in a sensible way. It is possible to debate without getting personal, you know. Comments about my clothes, age, looks and such isn’t very constructive and it doesn’t belong in a debate. But that’s just my point of view of course.
