MADRID, Spain – A judge has issued an international arrest warrant for three U.S. soldiers whose tank fired on a Baghdad hotel during the Iraq War killing a Spanish journalist and a Ukrainian cameraman, a court official said Wednesday…”
What? Are you fucking kidding me? Bloggers react:
- Reaganite at Reaganites Unite is baffeled too:
- Cao at Caos Blog has this to say:
- And Jonathan R at GOP Bloggers adds:
There was a WAR going on during the taking of Baghdad… HELLO! Journalists in war zones assume all liability in those situations. They have the option of choosing NOT to be there. I wish there was some way we could file a warrant on the judge for operating outside his jurisdiction.
It was the responsibility of the journalist and his cameraman to report the war and stay alive. Pointing things at American tanks tend to make that last job a bit hard, even when it is just a camera…
Remember, it was these cowards that buckled to terrorists when their subway was bombed right before an election and voted in a bunch of appeasing weaklings. So should we continue to trust the spanish?
I believe the Dread Pirate Roberts said it best when he said “No good, I’ve known too many Spaniardsâ€.
One of President Bush’s first acts was to withdraw America from the International Criminal Court.
The hubristic over-reach exhibited by this judge is a sample of what an ICC would do: subjecting American citiziens to the capricious whims of foreigners. That is something to which America should never agree.
I’ll tell you what Senor Judge — you want to arrest our three brave soliders? Come on over and try. I’ll be on the first line of defense ready to kick your ass back to your Euro-weenie little country. In the mean time, try going after the terrorists (instead of capitulating to them), and leave alone the guys (US) who are protecting Spain from becoming another building block in the Nation of Islam’s quest for world domination.
For what it’s worth to you US military haters (on both sides of the pond), the U.S. military has investigated the incident, and has stated that the soldiers believed they were under attack when they fired a round from their tank into The Palestine Hotel where several reporters were staying to cover the war.

No more Palestine Hotel. Is our brave spanish judge going to file charges against the terrorists? I doubt it.
Why in the heck does a Spanish court even think it has jurisdiction over this incident??? The last time I checked, there were no wormholes in Baghdad that periodically transport the Palestine Hotel to Spanish soil. But, on the off chance I’m wrong and the Palestine hotel is on Spanish soil, I wonder if anyone who was hurt in the attack on the hotel today can sue the Spanish government for not protecting them from the insurgents….
This is shocking and should serve as a big red flag to people who think we should play kissee-face with the rest of the world on national defense issues.
Hello! What war were you bozos talking about? Because the last time I checked only Congress has the authority to declare war. And since they haven’t…. there isn’t. So maybe it’s you guys that ought to remove your heads from whereever it is you’ve so tightly lodged them.
The president of the United States has no clear constitutional authority to declare war without congressional approval.
However, the U.S. Supreme Court has determined that the president, as commander-in-chief of the military, does have the authority to recognize a “state of war” initiated against the United States and may in these circumstances unilaterally send U.S. troops into battle.
President Bush did not seek a formal declaration of war from Congress. But he did seek congressional support, which he received.
