Not a Holiday tree

Christmas Tree

Just a gentle reminder over at Lucianne today.

We don’t call it a Holiday Candle Holder — it’s a Menorah. And this is a Christmas tree. Always has been and always will be.

Always has been? Umm, you really need to read a little. That was a druid symbol long before it was a Christmas tree, and Jesus didn’t have one of those anywhere near his manger. Happy Holidays, though! Perhaps someone will put a book for you under whatever that tree is.

Sigh. What a petty, small person you are Dan.

Actually, the traditional Christmas tree—and it’s related symbolism—used in America does not come from druids.

Our tradtional Christmas tree comes from Germany, fashioned after the Weihnachtspyramide — which symbolizes the story of Adam and Eve.

True, it’s thought that the German tradition originated with early Egyptians (to honor their god Horus).

But our tree—and by our tree I mean the long held tradtional trees used in these United States—is a Christian-based symbol of the Christian Holiday of Christmas.

Hell, Danny, I’m an agnostic, and I don’t get bent out of shape about using the term Christmas. Why? Because this is a country of Christians founded by Christians. And I don’t have a problem with that. In fact, it gives me the warm fuzzies.

Sadly, you do have a problem with the 85% of this country who are Christians. And that speaks volumes about you, Danny. Merry Christmas to you. I hope whatever plant you decide to adorn this year — you turn out to be alergic to it.

Robbie - I am a Christian, not an agnostic, and I have no problems with Christians celebrating Christmas. I do have a huge problem with whiney right wingers like O’Reilly acting like they’re persecuted because some people choose to say Happy Holidays.

So, if the Americans import a tradition based on a pantheistic tradition, it no longer is based on the pantheistic tradition? Wow. Pretty tricky logic there.

Thanks for calling me small. My dieting is starting to pay off.

Hahahaha Dan, you suck. Your a sorry excuse for a Christian. You should know the basic reasoning behind the Christmas Tree. And why say Happy Holidays? Why not say Merry Christmas. To al those who dont want to use the words merry christmas, go fuck yourself.

Is a Christmas tree a religious symbol? It’s the number one holiday poll on this site: http://www.apopularitycontest.com/poll_category.php?category=Holidays So far 135 people voted on it, and most are saying no.

Got something you want to say?
