It’s about 80 degrees and sunny outside. The turkey’s in the oven, stuffed with my lovely wife’s should-be-famous Cajun cornbread dressing. The smells of homemade cooking are permeating the house, and an afternoon of football games and playing with our hound dogs out in the yard lies ahead.
For the first time in several years, we dont’ have family coming into town for the holiday and we’re not going anywhere. It’s just my lovely wife and myself today.
And I couldn’t be more thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Especially to our men and women serving away from home — to you I am most thankful.

The warrior should be honored, but not the war. And, our freedom is not, and never has been, contingent upon who is allegedly defending us. Freedom is a state of mind, and has nothing to do with physical freedom, though the latter is a plus.
