My rebutal to Barbara Walters’ list of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2005 was based on the most “positively” fascinating people of 2005.

Bryan from Junkyard Blog told me that I need to expand my definition of fascinating a bit:

It’s not necessarily a positive thing to be fascinating. “Bewitching” is a synonym, and one definition is to “cause to be interested or curious.” People are curious about car wrecks they pass on the highway.

With that in mind, here is my list of the 10 Most Negatively Fascinating People of 2005:

  1. Cindy Sheehan — the most over-exposed car wreck of the year
  2. Jennifer Wilbanks — something about those bug eyes and bulging breasts…
  3. Kanye West — How somebody so racist and arrogant can still garner this much fanfare is bewildering. Do his fans even listen to the idiocy that comes out of his piehole everytime he opens it?
  4. Ronnie Earle — the Travis County DA who spent the entire year convening grand jury-after-grand jury trying to get a meaningful indictment on Sen. Tom Delay…only to have finally gotten one very small, unrelated indictment that will likely be dismissed.
  5. Al Franken — Al spent 2005 freefalling into a ranting, often violent, lunatic. His ability to attack others while completely refusing to be held accountable for is role in bilking $850K from the children of the Gloria Wise Boys/Girls Club is truly facinating.
  6. Dennis L. Rader — the relief of capturing this elusive serial killer was dampened by his televised, straight-faced, monotone, and chilling confessions and descriptions of his crimes
  7. Mayor: C. Ray Nagin — The Mayor of New Orleans, who stood around screaming racism and pointing the fingers of blame at everyone but himself…who, along with Gov. Blanco, are the two most culpable figures in the tragedy of New Orleans.
  8. Maureen Dowd — she’s everywhere you look these days, and despite the lunacy she’s selling, you can’t look away.

I’m sorry…but I had to stop at 8. My stomach is turning from thinking about these “fascinating” (in the car wreck-sort-of-way, remember) people.

If I come up with two more I’ll add them later…or feel free to add your own now.

BUSH WAS RIIIIIGHHT!!!!

What was Al Franken’s role in ‘bilking $850K’?

Preston — it’s been pretty well documented.

Franken claimed not to know anything about the $850K fraudlent loan to Air America from the Gloria Wise Boys/Girls Club…but documents with Franken’s signature (as to the nature of the loans) prove him to be a lying liar who tells lies.

I would have to add Patrick Fitzgerald. Two years of grand jury time and millions of taxpayer dollars wasn’t enough to prove his case. He needed one hour of national media time to joyfully regurgitate how he proved that Scooter Libbey was the genesis of the Plame leak. Uhh..until Woodward did him in. So, now he has convened another grand jury andwill spend millions more of taxpayer dollars to try to ..to try to…uh I forgot.

Got something you want to say?
