But seriously, politics isn’t war, war is. Politics is supposed to be about debate and the exchange of ideas; unfortunately, your friend Indepundit has decided he’s done listening to other positions and will just reject them out of hand. It’s statements like Indepundit’s that drag our national discourse into the gutter and keep it there; that’s not a good thing for what’s left of Democracy in this country. I suppose it’s pretty good for Republicans winning elections, though.

“People who speak against me are my enemies and must be defeated” is hardly what I’d call an intelligent challenge to their position, my friend. That’s intolerance of dissent - saying that simply because people have dissenting ideas, they must be stopped and defeated and whatever else you do to enemies. Challenge positions all you want, but don’t “declare war” on them.

There’s a pretty broad line between “dissent” and being on the other side. The people on my list have crossed over to the other side.

Ideas can be a dangerous thing when the people who boliviate on about them wish to see America fall at the hands of its enemies, and they have the power/platfrom to put those dangerous ideas into action.

There’s a reason that the fine men and women of our military overwhelmingly support the President and show nothing but contempt and disdain for Kerry, Dean, Murtha, Pelosi, and their ilk.

Say you “support the troops” ’till you’re blue in the face, but when the troops think you’re a piece of shit — well, you’re a piece of shit.

Let’s just state for the record that dissent is not now, never has been, and never will be “patriotic”–unless the person dissenting is, in fact, a patriot, and is doing so for patriotic, rather than personal political, reasons.

And there is nothing in their records of public service as elected officials to suggest that the likes of Kerry, Durbin, Pelosi, Boxer, Kennedy, Dean, Murtha, or the rest of the Defeatocrats, are in any way, shape or form patriots.
