Sexy teacher might not be too pretty for jail

Debra LafaveI saw my referral log spinning this morning with searches for Debra LaFave, so I figured she must be back in the news today.

When we last posted about the wretched tale of teen-molesting teacher Debra LaFave, we were dismayed that the HS teacher was not going to have to serve any jail time after repeatedly having sex with one of her under-aged students.

If you remember, Lafave’s lawyer argued (successfully) that LaFave should not serve prison time because “it would be too dangerous for someone as attractive as Lafave”.

Well, according to The Jawa Report, LaFave made the unfortunate mistake (like sleeping with a 14-year old student when your his teacher isn’t unfortunate enough) of having sex with him in two different jurisdictions.

Yesterday, Marion County prosecutors and Lafave’s attorney, John Fitzgibbons, presented a plea agreement to Judge Hale Stancil to resolve the charges against Lafave. Unexpectedly, Judge Stancil rejected the plea agreement and set April 10 as the trial date.

There’s hope yet that we’ll get to test that “too pretty for prison” theory (this has “made for television” written all over it. Debra, if you need someone to help you out with the script, give me a shout.)

…with Sybil Danning as the warden!

That’s an ingenious argument. I’ll have to try that one…

(But given #2 on your next post I’d think you’d be a bit more understanding of her ’situation’.)

You would think that…

But all that does is give me a better understanding of the teenage boy’s situation.

And actually, after all was said and done — and with the wisdom of time and retrospection — I knew that the 27-year old waitress I dated was not a mentally healthy person.

I saw her on the news when she was being arraigned. She was wearing a tight red knit dress. It looked so inappropriate for court unless you wanted to portray your client as a nut.

We all laugh about this, but it isn’t for her husband, who I believe has already divorced her.

A retired teacher of 34 yrs I am an old man in his upper 80s. As a Christian I pray for Debra and would like to email prayers to her. Is there a safe and legal way for me to do this?

The USA is way too hung up about sex. It happens, and its happened between teens and older people since time began. Granted, 14 is way too young, but 16 and 17 used to not be prosecutable, and shouldn’t be really. Sure, its messed up when people do it, but teaching a 16 year old to be a victim for life when they choose to sleep with a 27 year old is just creating a society of weenies and more importantly, expanding an already out of control police state. Of course child molesters and rapists should be dealt with harshly, but this kind of stuff dilutes those credible cases. However, noone ever claimed a man was too pretty for jail, so why does a woman get a break? Maybe if our prisons weren’t open season for predators and rapists, then this wouldnt be an issue. Maybe if the jails weren’t full of drug addicts arrested by the same cops who support the CIA, FBI and the other international drug dealers, then we might be able to properly administer the prison system so that rape wasnt part of the punishment. America is far too messed up a country to be sanctimonious about sexual morality. That said, under 16 has to be prosecuted, and teachers, and cops and congressmen are in especially sensitive positions, but exaggerating victimhood is making for a country of completely stupid whiners.

Got something you want to say?
