Markos Moulitsas Zúniga in NewsWeek

MSNBC/Newsweek
is hosting a circle-jerk interview with the founder of TheDailyKos — the Liberal Left’s portal of daily talking points.

In the two-page interview, Kos predicts the 2006 races where he believes Democrats will unseat Republican incumbants. However, after reading Newsweek’s little jerk-off session interview, I noticed they failed to mention Zúniga’s past successes in making bold political predictions.

Luckily for us, Scott at the Environmental Republican has been keeping track:

Kos is 0-16 with candidates he has supported.

Zero out of sixteen; he fits right in with the other geniuses at Newsweek. Maybe him, Evan Thomas and Jonathan Alter can go have lunch together and really change the way the minority party is headed.

Wow- that’s a one-sided interpretation of the piece.

First, would you similarly call the Corner or Polipundit as the right’s portal of daily talking points? Don’t people on the left get to enjoy talking politics with like-minded activists just as the right does?

Kos is 0-16 with candidates he has supported.
You’re conflating support with predictions. Obviously, Moulitsas must have been disappointed with that record but an examination of the candidates reveals that the support was for exactly those candidates that were not receiving support from the monied DLC wing of the Democratic party.

If you are interested in Kos’s record on political predictions do the research- perhaps he’s not any good at it but we don’t know from the 0-16 record. To compare apples and oranges really reduces your own credibility as an honest broker. (Hopefully you just didn’t do the research on what the ‘Kos Dozen’ were about)

Oh, the Right definitely has their own “Talking Points” portals too — most prominently FreeRepublic (which is not on my list of reads).

I didn’t say there was anything wrong with having a portal of talking points, regardless of which side of the aisle you plant your politcal butt. I just noticed that on the left, TheDailyKos is THE talking points portal.

most prominently FreeRepublic (which is not on my list of reads).

Much to your credit…

I find it hard to be persuaded by the type of person who takes offense at a perceived slight of a left-wing talking-points portal, then comes right back and directly slights a right-wing talking-points portal. The actions kinda confuse the message.

Actually I would defend both right and wing political sites- I don’t believe that anyone goes to blogs to learn ‘talking points’ but to find like-minded people to discuss politics with.

(But I’ll say that Free Republic seems to have more than its fair share of surly, bigoted jackasses. -Incidentally, much of my family is Republican and I’m not of the school that demonizes the political opposition. But I’ll call em like I see em.)

I’d say you’re a fair-minded and logical guy, Preston (and obviously intelligent). I think of you as my “worthy opposition”….we just disagree on many things. But I appreciate your civility, and try to converse with you and regard you in the same manner.

Thanks for saying so- and back at ya.

I find it hard to understand why it is so impossible to find a civil dialogue on the internet…

Dude I throughly enjoyed your site.

Thanks. I get a kick out of it too.

nomination was shot down in a Right-wing swarm that was in direct contradiction of what many supposedly influential conservative bloggers wanted. As for influencing readers to effect change, the biggest blog in the world hasn’t been able to get asingle candidate elected.

Got something you want to say?
