Although I do agree with you on most things including how you felt about her bumper sticker, I have to ask…Is anyone around you ALLOWED to have an opinion. Or do you make comments to everyone who has a bumper sticker that you don’t like. The more I read your babble, the more you make yourself seem like a communist. You actually think that your way of thinking and living is the only way. That my friend is communism.

Of course others are allowed to have opinions. Which is why I have a comments section in my blog.

But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to let your opinions go un-challenged.

And after reading this particular opinion, I’m not sure you really know what Communism is.

Robbie’s almost always wrong in his own opinions, 5, but he does allow other voices to be heard. As he says, he’ll challenge opposing opinions, but he does allow them.

If I were the lady in the Prius, I would have followed him to the gas station and laughed at him when he filled his penis-substitute Land Rover up at $2.35 a gallon.

My daily commuter is a 55 MPG motorcycle. Not because it’s patriotic, but because I love to ride. Besides, when I load up my 3 big dogs and a weekend’s worth of camping gear in my Rover and head out for a weekend of remote Texas camping (places where you’d never see a Prius), the few dollars extra I spend at the pump are well worth it.

Besides, do you really think that people who buy $80K Range Rovers or $75K Hummers are concerned about how much it cost to fill them up? Or the people who buy $300K RVs that get 6 MPG?

It’s almost like living in a 10,000 sq ft home and fretting over how much it’s going to cost to heat the place in the winter…

Well, if you’re using your landrover to head out into remote Texas, I respectfully withdraw my penis-substitute comment. ‘Round here, most of those beasts are used solely for hauling groceries from the grocery store.

And, yeah, I have heard their drivers whining about the price of gas, even though I’m sure they could buy their own refinery.

Ok, truth-be-told, I hear rich people complaing about the cost of things (not just gasoline) more than their less-wealthy counter-parts. Reminds of the time at the marina this summer, while standing in line behind a guy complaining about paying nearly $10 for a six pack of beer, only to see him carry it outside and climb aboard a $600K boat.

My Rover is a gas guzzler (about 12 MPG), but the trade-offs for me are: 1) it’s not a daily commuter — I would probably trade it in for a Honda Element if it were my daily ride, and 2) It’s off-road capabilities combined with the more-than-comfortable interior make it a great choice for my extra-curricular life-style.

The point of this post really, is that I was confronting the lady because her statement is that this is a “war for oil” (it’s not…or we’d be at war with Venezuala and Canada). And for anybody who things their choice in car makes them patriotic…it doesn’t (Except Ford F-150 drivers…)

You’re standing on thin ground if that’s all it takes to prove that this government’s foreign policy is motivated by securing oil supplies.

Venezuela- US supported the coup d’etat of a democratically elected government and demonizes Chavez only behind Saddam and Castro.

Canada- they’re a separate country from the US?

I don’t believe that oil is all of the reason we’re in Iraq but it’s a lot of it.

You’re filling in a lot of blanks in that woman’s thought in your post. It sounds like you’re projecting your insecurities onto her. Maybe she was staring at you because you were visibly sneering.

There’s another way that driving a 50 mpg car is patriotic. It reduces our dependence on foreign oil. Almost every national Republican figure has identified that as an important, dare I say patriotic, goal.

So by that standard, yeah, she’s actually right.
