4 murders vs. 3, and a pocketful of celebrities
Do you remember how the Stars aligned for now-dead convicted murderer Stanley “Tookie” Williams?
Russell Crowe, Jason Alexander, Danny Glover, Sean Penn, Anjelica Huston, Jamie Fox, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Noah Wyle, Bianca Jagger, Mike Farrell, singer Bonnie Raitt, Snoop Dogg, former New York governor Mario Cuomo, the Right-Rev. Jesse Jackson, and numerous other celebrities all protested the execution of the quadruple-murderer. Hell, they tried to give the guy the Noble Fuckin’ Peace Prize.
Many of them were at California’s San Quentin State Prison the day Tookie died.

Contrast that with the scene at San Quentin on Tuesday. Which is when — 38 minutes after midnight and less than an hour after his 76th birthday — Clarence Ray Allen was put to death by the State of California.
If ever there was a death row inmate worthy of some empathy or sympathy, I could understand how anti-death penalty advocates could rally around this old man. Allen was mostly blind and deaf and couldn’t walk, and had to be assisted into the death chamber by four large correctional officers. For God’s sakes, he last full day on this earth was his birthday.
Unfortunately for Mr. Allen, he didn’t write any childrens books while he was in prison. Maybe then he could have had Susan and Tim come visit him. Maybe he could have had Sir Anthony Hopkins play him in his made-for-television life story. Maybe Danny Glover could have met with Gov. Schwarzenegger to plead for clemency.
But on the night of Mr. Allen’s execution, there were no stars to plead for his life or to mourn his loss.
Where were they all?

Just another glaring example of the vaingloriousness and narcissism of Hollywood’s Limo-Liberals. It’s a good thing for Tookie that his execution didn’t occur on the same night as the Oscars, or he would have died a much more lonely man.
