Sen. Harry ReidThe Washington Post is reporting that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid apologized to 33 Republican senators whom he singled out for ethics criticism in a report from his office.

“The document released by my office yesterday went too far and I want to convey to you my personal regrets,” Reid said in a letter.

Wasn’t it just last May when Sen. Reid issued an apology to President Bush after calling him a “loser”?

Memo to Sen. Reid: One way to avoid having to continually apologize for saying stupid shit is to keep your mouth shut. I’m not sure if their is a treatment or a cure for Bush Derangement Syndrome, but Senator, you have a pretty severe case, and it’s obviously affected your thinking and speaking abilities.

My question to Senator Reid is what’s to apologize for?

Call a spade a spade. Call a crook a crook.

To an extent, Preston, I agree. But so far, none of the Senators that he singled out have been charged with (and certainly not convicted) any wrong doing.

The moment they are, though, I’ll be the first to widely condemn them.

Another reason I believe his apology to be necessary and his initial comments to be assinine, is that he only singled out Republican Senators…when there are reportedly Democrats involved in the Abramhoff scandal as well.

If you’re going to call a spade a spade, you have to be honest enough to do it across both sides of the aisle.

I do believe there is a vast and pervasive “culture of corruption” in DC. I just don’t believe it’s isolated to one particular party.

Well, as Minority Leader I don’t expect him to single out any Democrats at this point. He can let the Majority Leader or non-partisan watchdogs do that if necessary.

But Abramoff is a lifelong Republican activist. I don’t expect Democrats to be dragged down with him.

I don’t expect Democrats to be dragged down with him.

Not even Democrats who might be found guilty of illegally receiving money from Abramhoff?

Not a Democrat in the bunch.

yah, imagine that…a Republican only giving money to Republicans…wow!

guess you don’t understand the concept of money laundering.

Well, Mac- that’s my point: Abramoff is a Republican and gives to Republicans legally and illegally in exchange for influence on Capital Hill on how to spend your money.

Regarding money laundering- I guess you’ll have to explain why Abramoff would be giving money in secret to the Democrats when he was unwilling to give it in public. A facade of bipartisanship would have served him well you’d think.

But even beyond his personal habits of donating to the GOP he persuaded Indian tribes that had traditionally been huge supporters of the Democrats to give to the GOP.

Got something you want to say?
