I just received an email from Sen. John Kerry concerning the confirmation of Judge Sam Alito. It starts:

Dear Robbie,

I’ve studied Judge Alito’s legal record. I met with him one-on-one. After all this, I am left with one simple conclusion: if Judge Alito becomes Supreme Court Justice Alito, he will move the Court backwards.

I will vote against Judge Alito’s confirmation, and I hope a majority of Senators choose to join us on the Senate floor, voting and speaking out against him. I know we face tough odds, but this is an important fight.

The bottom line is Judge Alito cannot be trusted on the Supreme Court. We can’t trust him to stand up to government abuse of power. We can’t trust him to ensure all citizens enjoy equal protection under the law. We can’t trust him to protect our right to privacy. We can’t trust him to defend mainstream American values.

To muster enough Senators to defeat Judge Alito, the American people have to make it clear that they are against his nomination.

Actually, Sen. Kerry, what the American people have made very clear is that they don’t trust you. We couldn’t trust you to lead our country. We couldn’t (and still can’t) trust you to keep our nation safe from terrorists. We couldn’t trust you to appoint Supreme Court Justices who wouldn’t use the bench to make law, rather than interpet and uphold it. And as for mainstream American values, Sen. Kerry — Please…you wouldn’t know mainstream American values if they pissed on your leg.

In 2004, we weren’t prepared to trust you to make your own SCOTUS nominations, Senator. We’re even less inclined to take your recommendations against obviously and exceptionally qualifified nominees like Judge Samual Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts.

There are days when I wonder if Sen. Kerry and osama are the same person…

Glad to have found you! It was a roundabout way… I frequent La Shawn Barber’s Corner, she had a link to a cspan show where she was mentioned by a caller, and you were mentioned by the same caller. You’re famous! lol Anyway, I’m from the area just north of Houston and I’m excited to find an Austin conservative. ;) Lord knows we need them. I will add you to my blogroll. :)

Thanks for stopping by RepJ. What part of North Houston are talking about? Jersey Village, Humble, Kingwood, or Spring?

I’m a Conroe boy myself (CHS class of ‘86) — about 45 miles north of Houston. But haven’t lived there since joining the Army in 1991.

Somehow this reminds me of someone else worth mentioning………. posssibly George Bush???

Actually, Sen. Kerry, what the American people have made very clear is that they don’t trust you.

That’s funny- I thought the election was a mandate for President Bush’s capabilities and vision. If it was just the rejection of an untrustworthy candidate I guess the President doesn’t have quite as much ‘political capital’ as he claimed.

Got something you want to say?
