Question: Can dogs smoke weed?

Answer: Sure they can. Should they (or more accurately, should you make your dog smoke weed)? Hell NO. If you give your pets (or your children, or anybody else whose welfare you are responsible for) weed, you should be kicked in the groin*. Repeatedly.

Why is this the question of the day? Because someone found my blog by searching for “can dogs smoke weed” on Google. Maybe more disturbing than someone out there wondering if he can shotgun some weed to Fido, is that my blog was the first hit returned by Google on that search string — albeit for a story about a disc golfer who was busted for possession of weed after his dog showed Cops where he had hidden his stash.

*Legitimate medical usage exempted from this rant — at least for people; I’m not sure how the Veterinary professionals out there feel about giving weed to dogs with glaucoma.

  5. It is really bad for animals to injest weed, either through inhaling smoke or eatting it. You really should not.

    • wrong.
      It’s good for the flu
      It’s good for asthma
      Good for tuberculosis
      Even umara composis
      birds eat it.
      cows eat it
Goats love to play with it

  6. well but does it rly harms the dog? i just got 1 dog and im thinking blowing smoke to his face when i smoke .. it harms the dog so much? the way i see it doesnt harm him

  7. Anon — Why am I not surprised that your IP resolves to Amsterdam.

Yes, pot smoke rly [sic] does harm your dog, just at it really does harm you, too.

Please don’t do this to your dog. Would you blow pot smoke in your kid’s face? Hopefully, the answer is no.

I hope your dog gnaws a gash in your leg if you do end up abusing him like that.

  8. I am all for weed when I get old and it helps with the pains of being old. I used to do it when I was young. But to give it to your pet just makes you stupid, then again you are the one smoking weed.

  9. I have owned a few pitbulls.I currently have a pitbull/bulldog.Some times i smoke and i blow it into his nose.I know this is wrong and that he cant tell me not to do it And he cannot tell me if it hurts him.he just sits there and then after 10 minutes hes asleep.Him being pitbull i think he would show me if he didnt like something.Id just like to see lab results. And i still understand the other side as well.

  10. I SMOKE WIT ALL MY PETS THEY LOVE LOVE LOVE IT

  11. I dont know if it herts them but my red nose pit comes up and sniffs my mouth when i exhail so she must like it.

  12. WEED IS ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD FOR DOGS. IM A PET PSYCHOLOGIST AND IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT MARIJUANA SMOKE INCREASES A DOGS METABOLISM AND ENABLES STEADY NEUROTRANSMISSIONS. I SMOKE WITH MY DOGS ALL THE TIME. KEEP DOING IT!

    • William, that’s just great.
You are one of the one’s causing so much pain and suffering, by funding the drug cartels.
Why don’t you and your stoner dog spend a week in Reynosa.
      /asshole.

      • No the government is the one funding the drug cartels with prohibition, they could collect and extra $10 BILLION in taxes a year if they legitimized it, plus the $10 BILLION they would save by not incarcerating a PEACEFUL stoner who wants nothing better than to sit at home with his dog and get high.

      • he could be in canada where pot is grown by friends and family
and yeah its “bilderberg” (search them)(really search them-do it now)

        • Or he could be a purple frog shooting out of your ass.
And it’s the drug cartels, google them up, google them up now douche nozzle.

        • what exactly is your evidence for why you think weed is so bad?

  13. I agree with William , my dog toby is a pit lab mix that i saved from the pound when he was about one or so . Abused as a puppy he was agressive tordes other dogs and strangers , i knew he was a good dog but he could’nt contain his agressiveness from being beaten as a pup . So one day i wanted to see if he would eat a cronic stem , he did and loved it, i noticed a change in his behavior when some one came to the door and he was relaxed with a wag , so different for him ; it must be the weed i thought . After one months of therapy he is a passive loving family dog with no training other than weed ! (toby drouls now when its that time)lol ps.No2liberal u should’nt call people names shows your true color , what works for you might not work for other people !

  14. Hi! I have a Samoyed dog and at the moment hes suffering with inflamed skin on his nut sacks. Hes not been able to sleep after i stopped giving him doggie painkillers (its bad for dogs tummy, blood in poop and such) so i gave him a tiniest crum of veed bud and now hes sleeping. He gets up when i move but at least he gets some sleep (usually takes naps all the time but hes been awake for twelve hours straight cos he cant lie down cos it hurts). I love him more than anything so this was my last hope. hes 1,5 years old and nicest guy you could ever meet. we’re going to the vet again in few days.

  15. I just had to take my dog to the emergency vet because he ingested 1 gram of medical marijuana. It slows their heart rate to a coma level, and can be very dangerous. I don’t see the harm in blowing smoke, but definitely don’t let them eat it.
