Collective groan from Houston fans could be heard all the way to Austin

Today the Houston Texans announced that they have extended the contract of quarterback David Carr. Which means that they are probably tipping their hats to draft USC RB Reggie Bush (even though the best player on our team is RB Domanick Davis).

When Houston was awarded the Texans football franchise, me and 8 of close friends all purchased a block of 9 Permanent Seat Licenses (PSLs), and have been season ticket holders since day one.

After watching the first four seasons of the Houston Texans, I am convinced that David Carr is not everything we hoped he would be — he’s just not a very good NFL QB. A lot of pundits think that Carr would be a good NFL QB (a super star, even) if he only had a better offensive line (Carr has been the most sacked QB in the NFL over the last 4 years). To which I say “bullshit”. Our O-line is not that bad — just ask Domanick Davis, who’s rushed for over 3100 yards in his first three seasons with the team.

With the number one overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft (thanks in large part to the horrendous play of QB David Carr), Texans fans are hoping that the team executives will take this opportunity to scuttle David Carr and his unfulfilled promise of greatness.

As a Houston Texans fan and a Texas Longhorns fan, nothing excites me more than the prospect of having Vince Young play for our team at the NFL level. But it looks like the Texans are content to be a bottom feeding team in the NFL — which is what they’ll be as long as David Carr and Charley Casserly are leading the team.

Yesterday I recieved my invoice for my 2006 Houston Texans season tickets. The first installation is due sometime in mid-March. Unfortunately, the 2006 NFL Draft is not until April 29. There is still a chance that the Texans could draft Vince Young, despite signing David Carr to a 3 year extension.

If I knew for sure that the Texans will not draft Vince Young, I probably would not renew my season tickets this year.

Robbie-
I agree with you about Carr… I am almost nervous about what the Texans will do with their pick. I do think that Kubiak will turn this thing around though…
Here’s to VY in a Texans jersey come April!

I’m getting my tickets again next year — and hoping they trade down in the draft for D’Brickashaw Ferguson.

We need a strong guy on the offensive line, not another QB or RB.

I wouldn’t give up hope yet. They just hired ex-Packers coach Mike Sherman. At least the coaching staff is starting to look good.

Got something you want to say?
