Scheduled for execution on Feb 15

Clyde Smith Jr.Clyde Smith Jr. is scheduled for execution on Feb 15, 2006 for shooting to death two different Houston cab drivers, David Jacobs and Victor Bilton, in 1992.

The National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (NCADP) has listed a bevy of reasons that Smith should not be executed. But not a single one of those reasons is “He’s innocent; he didn’t commit the crimes for which he has been convicted”.

Why? Because his guilt is undenial and uncontested.

According to the Attorney General of Texas (Greg Abbott), Smith confessed to shooting both Jacobs and Bilton after bullets from a .38 caliber pistol found at Smith’s home matched ballistic tests from both murders. How did Police find Smith and the .38 caliber pistol? While investigating an incident at an apartment complex where Smith shot himself in the leg. The gun he shot himself in the leg with? The same one he used to murder both cab driver.

I don’t give a shit if his defense lawyer was drunk and passed out during Smith’s entire trial (he wasn’t) — the man executed two people during the course of robbing them. Two instances of capital murder. I wish there was a way he could be put to death twice.

i don’t care if his lawyer was asleep, drunk or mentally retarded. this man needs to die for his crime.

At 6:17 p.m. last night, he did die for his crimes.

No one has the right to kill;NO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you want justice or satisfaction.
Death penalty is wrong

I support the death penalty. People have to pay for their behavior.
If they are guilty, they must die!

I ask to you Martin…if no one has the right to kill…then, who gave the right to Smith to kill two people? can you fill me on that?

Santos — you’re starting with a false premise (that no one has the right to kill), and running with it from there.

The reality is that there are a number of circumstances when a person or the Govn’t has the “right to kill”.

For instance, you can kill someone in self-defense of your person or property or in defense of another person (in some circumstances). And, according to the laws of Texas, we have the right to execute those convicted of certain crimes, such as capital murder (which is what Clyde Smith Jr. was executed for).

As to your earlier question: I want justice, and executing murderers, child rapists, and cop killers satisfies that sense of justice.

Robbie,
I sopport your comments, but my question was for Matin because he said that death penalty is wrong. OH yes…I want murderers, child rapists, and cop killers to pay for their actions.

Clyde Smith had no right to kill anybody, but he did.
The fact he is a cold hearted Killer doesn`t give us,the state of Texas
the US or anybody else the right to kill.
It puts you on the same level with the killer.
I do understand that families of murder victims feel hate and crave
for pay back, but the law shouldn`t.The law should protect rights
of human beings ,one of them is the right to live.
clyde smith may be a cold hearted killer, but he is still a human being
with the right to live.

The USSC has repeatedly held that the death penalty is not unconstitutional. So, yes, if the states want to impose the death penalty, they have the right to do so. And, we provide representation for those indigent and appellate review ad nauseam. It’s ridiculous to say we don’t respect the rights of the accused. For you to equate those who support the death penalty with those who commit capital murder, is just plain nuts.

In other countries people are on death row for much less, for
example speaking out loud their opinion. In those countries
the death penalty is `constitutional` too and alot of people
agree because they don`t know better or they are afraid.
My understanding is that you,2, oppose those reasons too
to put someone to death because he published his opinion.
I`m talking about international human rights, which should be followed by every nation in this world, especially the USA as
a strong leading world wide respected nation.
The USA should set an example for other countries.
In my opinion the death penalty contributes to the circle of
violence;it makes people have less respect for life.
like;`if they get me they gonna kill me anyway,so who cares
`bang`,`bang`,,,,, another one just bit the dust

If you can’t distinguish the legal system of the United States from the legal system of say, Iran, then seek professional help. Respect for live entails that if you take the life of an innocent man, woman, or child, you forfeit your own. Contrary to your belief, the death penalty does not perpetuate violence.

I guess 2 you belong to the people who don`t know it better;
Life is the most precious thing we got,you don`t just throw your
life or someone else`s life away.
You say if someone kills he looses his right to live, now if you
ly to a judge,do you loose your right te speak?Should they cut
out your tounge?
No,and you know that too.
Death penalty is not the right answer for murder and crime.
Education, caring, love and responsibilities do a much better job
in preventing and healing crime.
There will be always murder and crime in this world, but I think
there is a good chance to minimize it with the right tools.
Death penalty is definitely not the right tool.

Why don’t you learn to debate like an adult? Again, we are talking about the death penalty in the United States. Cutting out tongues as punishment is prohibited under the 8th Amendment. No one “just throw[s]your life or someone else’s life away.” People make the conscious descion to murder. They are then afforded every legal safeguard and protection. For you to ignore that just makes you a kook.

I looked over previous entries about executions on this web side.
I read a lot of frustration, anger narrow mindness ,intolerant, willingness to use ultimate force, etc….
this are all attributes that put a lot of people on death row.
Fortunately someone taught you,2, what is legal and what is illegal
in this country, and you also have a target in your that keeps you
on the right track. In my eyes:If you would get kicked off of your track you`d
be at high risk for ending up on death row because you fulfill all the
other criterias.
I don`t want to see you in the paper as an ugly mug shot for beeing
executed, because not that I like you but because of
`death penalty is wrong`.

Hate;I forgot to list hate, which is propably reason #1

Thank you for proving you’re truly are a kook, Martin. Not that anyone had any doubts after reading your initial drivel.

I also like to mention, that there are alot of countries which abolished
the death penalty. In Europe the last remaining country with death
penalty is Turkey. The rest got rid of it and their capital crime
numbers together are lower than in the US.
I`m sick of reading the paper or watching the news and only hear
about murder and crime.I have three young kids to raise ,and I
want them to grow up in a safe and happy world as much as possible.
But I know one thing:death penalty is not the right way

We have very little in common with europe. And their motives for abolishing the death penalty are not all that altruistic. In Germany, it was done to prevent the well deserved execution of nazi war criminals. If you think europe is such a great place to live, move there.

Is Martin from the planet earth? Should it not read ‘Martian’

I am European,I`m even German;your statement about the
reasons why Germany abolished the death penalty proofs to
me that you have a severe lack of history knowledge and what`s
going on in other countries in this world.
Some travelling might do you good.
Now you`re telling me go home where you come from,or some
other crab.From Nazi,racist,mother fucker,white supreme,
kraut,…..etc ,I was called pritty much everything here.
It still doesn`t change the fact death penalty is wrong

Oh, I knew you were. You all spew the same nonsense. The only reason I didn’t come out and say it was because I believe you would just lie, like you are lying about this: Nazi, racist, mother fucker, white supreme, kraut,…..etc ,I was called pritty much everything here.

And no, I am very well informed and have traveled extensively. You, however, are woefully ignorant on how Article 102 came about as you appear woefully ignorant about most things. And the death penalty is not wrong. Tonight a torturer/rapist/murderer of a young woman will be executed. So go cry your crocodile tears.

Well, you go ahaed and celebrate an another execution and I`m shure
you`re gonna brush up on your social and history science.
Thank you for your time and you might see me again here on some of your
execution parties.
Good luck to you.I guess we all need some.

P.S.: You might think of me what you want, this is your right, but it still doesn`t change:DEATH PENALTY is WRONG
I did not lie to you and I don`t feel greater or more educated than you.
I have a different point of view.On purpose I didn`t come out with
my nationality,and I didn`t plan to for 2 reasons.The reaction I got
from you right now I experienced so many times when you talk from person to person. When you talk with an akzent people figure pritty
fast that you`re not American and you`re prejudged as some weirdo
with nonsense ideas.
The second reason is it should not matter what nationality you are
when you discuss a matter like the `death penalty`.People around
the world discuss it and find pro/contra arguments.
The history of my country and many others tell me: death penalty is wrong

Hay Martian!

Is it wrong if it saves other lives? If Bundy had have got his earlier, young girls would not be dead now! Had he got it later, others would have. Try to look at the big picture, it helps you form a wider viewpoint.

as for being called every name under the sun, well that tells us how much you rub people up the wrong way with your ill thought out opinions.

Well ,Sam; if they would have caught Bundy earlier less girls would
have died that`s true;but executed or not , the number of victims
remains the same.
Now to my ill thoughts, here is what I think is ill:
Na ,Sam, looking forward to the next execution?
I can feel it,you`re excited already.Got the cracker, chips and the
beer ready in front of the TV.I bet it`s a Miller Lite.
Can`t wait for them to pop the news,”Killer Executed Tonight”
Are your Hands already sweaty?Tell me,what turns you more on:
when they read his last statement or when they discribe how his body
reacted to the deadly poison ? Or may be his last meal does it
for you and deep inside you think:`Damned, this is America! At least they
could have shown it on `pay per view`.
See,Sam, this is a sick picture.I`m afraid this picture is not far away
from the truth.

No, Martian. Tonight we have to listen to the elderly and ill parents of Terry Winchell wondering when there daughter is going to get justice.

I despise executions Martian, not because of the murderer as you and the likes of Lene appear to do, but because I remember the reason why they are there. they took an innocent life and somewhere, a family is in ruins.

So, in short, not a shred of pleasure from the execution at all. Good attempt to deflect attention from your defective arguments though.

As for your statement that executed or not, Bundy’s victim count would have been the same, how on earth can you know that? He proved perfectly adept at escape, a few more wouldn’t bother you huh? Or would it make him all the hotter as a pen pal?

The difference between you and I, I don’t want to take chance with people’s lives. You don’t appear to mind

If you blame escaping from jail could have saved another life, then you need to talk about safety and security of jails.Right now we are
discussing death penalty,stay focused Sam.

2, such sensitve and caring words out of your mouth really irritatted
me.Anyway,we both know that Terry`s parents will take their pain over their brutally murdered daughter in to their graves.Unfortunately there is nothing , not you or me or anybody else who
could diminish their pain.
If you are looking for bringing justice to Terry Winchell we are all
to late;she`s gone.We can honor her, memorize her, keep her in our
hearts;and may be she gets justice somewhere else ,but I know it`s not here.
What we can do is make this place a better place by caring for each other and respect each other. There will be always some wacos like
Bundy, but I`m shure alot of murder would not occur if we care .

I don’t blame escaping from prison, I blame the blood lust of the murderers and the fact that they are intent on killing again.

No prison system, from the barbaric death factories of the Third Reich to the most hi tech security prisons today, has proved 100% safe.

Do you not think ordinary people deserve the right to live in safety Martian? If not, try to gain some focus, even a little.

As fr your comment to 2 above, maybe we can’t end the pain for Terry’s parents, but we can sure as hell guarantee that no other family has to go through the same again. No families of prison officers, no unfortunate child who perhaps gets in the way of an escape attempt etc etc

Your problem Martian, is that you are all oo willing to take chances with the lives of others in an effort to protect the Killer. The simple fact Martian, is that THEY have gone beyond the point of reasonable, acceptable behaviour. They have gone beyond the most basic corner stone of society, respect for human life. That was their choice, not mine. They have become a danger to all. They are being culled in the same way you would a rabid dog or a crazed bull.

try to keep your liberal guilt under conrol for a little while. think in the interests of the majority, not those who choose to remove themselves from the human species.

According to them, the execution of the man who tortured, raped and brutally murdered their daughter would bring them a world of comfort. Unlike you, you obnoxious creep, I wouldn’t dare to tell people in their unfortunate position how they feel. And for the record: You don’t know shit.

I`m glad more and more people distance themselves from your kind
of thinking, even here in America. You two sound to me like two
dying dinosaurs trying to hold on desperately to old fashion
`law and order`.
You`re just hopeless.

No, martian, you are hopeless. For some reason you think your views have an effect on our laws. They do not. The majority of people support the death penalty. A fair portion of those who do not do so because they are misinformed. My goal is to make sure the correct information is available to people. They can then make their own decision.

I picked the right person to talk to.You see your self as a` messias`
of the death penalty , the `choosen One`.
Wow,you are hopeless!!!!!!!!!!!

Your grasp of the english language leaves much to be desired, martian.

Oh Martian, you have sunk to personal insults….. ok

strange to hear a German lecturing on Human Rights anyway. Bet you would have less sympathy for Smith were he a Pole, or worse still…a slav

I am absolutely against death penalty !
and I’m glad almost everybody in germany is ! luckily I do not live in america because otherwise I would be as blind as many of you are!!!
and stop with that stupid Nazi shit! I think you really don’t know how many americans are nazis… some of you even don’t know that Hitler is dead or that australia is NOT afghanistan or iraq or something hahaha !!

do you think you are better than we germans were in the 2nd world war?
NO you are NOT !!!
you are executing people (”accidently” almost all black) and
torturing people in iraq… oh yeah america the great nation

ihr seid die besten …echt!ihr habts drauf ihr idioten !

I’m not a American my dear frau,

I agree, the Americans are not better than Germans, at least not where killing is concerned, Germans are much more efficient, as is their nature.

Is the trend for German anti DP feeling a direct response to your 1939-45 guilt?

Also, the American’s are not claiming Iraq is ‘living space’ are they dear frau.

Got something you want to say?
