Actor falsely accuses Austin cop

In March of 2004, actor Jason Patric (Lost Boys, Sleepers, The Alamo) was arrested and charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest in Downtown Austin.

Patric filed a lawsuit against Officer Joshua Visi for using excessive force and false imprisonment.

Yesterday, a jury in Austin acquitted Officer Visi of the charges, and cleared him of any wrong doing.

Final verdict: Hollywood prima donna comes to town, gets drunk, and then pulls the “Do you know who I am?” card when cops arrest him. When cops don’t know who he is, Hollywood actor becomes even more indignant.

After the trial, Patric continued to slander the Austin police officer:

“I am not a liar; (Visi) is,” Patric said after the verdict. “If the law hamstrung me, at least I can pretty much guarantee that he won’t be able to get away with it ever again.”

Although disappointed by the loss, Patric said he fulfilled his goal of holding Visi accountable for his actions.

You held Visi accountable ? Let’s see…the jury found that Officer Visi was justified in arresting your drunk ass. They found no merit in your claims whatsoever. So, according to the jury, Officer Visi was found to be accountable — to the laws and procedures of the Austin Police Department.

Boy, you have to be really loaded to get popped for public intoxication. I mean falling down drunk and barfing all over yourself drunk. I doubt Patric can remember much of what occurred. I can’t believe he sued.

Another moron that thinks they are due more than the ordinary citizen. I barely recognize his name, lol, no wonder the officer couldn’t have cared less.

Patric is the grandson of legendary actor Jackie Gleason. I did enjoy The Lost Boys and Sleepers though.

Actually the charges of public intoxication against Jason were dropped(no evidence), so maybe he wasn’t intoxicated. I don’t think this had anything to do with his being a well known actor. Of course not that the Austin PD has a reputation for this kind of behavior, right?

you have this info wrong! The charges agaist Patric were dropped! The officer wrongly arrested him it was proven! This lawsuit was brought by Patric to try to bring this cop to justice! he did lose that suit, but this cop was suspended for lying to a prosecutor and his sergeant. This cop was dirty!Patric was not trying to get out of anything, The charges were dropped agaist him .You should have your info right before you report it!

He may not have been puking over himself drunk but he did interfere with an officer lawfully performing his duties and ignored warnings. I suspect that it is policy that they won’t press charges unless they have a BAC.

Per the article: The charges against Patric were dropped after prosecutors decided his actions — retracting his arm while an officer tried to handcuff him — did not constitute resisting arrest. Prosecutors also said they did not think they could prove Patric was intoxicated.

It also states that the officer was suspended last month, almost two years after this incident, on an unrelated matter.
