“You’ll never catch me alive”

In his latest taped broadcast on The Terrorism Television Network (TTN, also known as al-Jazeera) Bin Laden vowed never to be captured alive.

Poor cave-dwelling terrorist — doesn’t he understand that capturing him dead is still a viable option? Or just burying him alive in the cave he’s hiding in, never to be found again?

In the tape, OBL also claims that the U.S. military has become as “barbaric” as Saddam Hussein — because we all know that making a guy wear panties on his head is the same thing (if not worse) than cutting his head off with a rusty scimitar while shouting “Allahu Ahkbar!” and then selling the video to al-Jazeera. (credit to Mark Steyn in the Chicago Sun Times for every thing after “cutting his head off” in that last sentence).

Gina Cobb does a great job of Fisking the entire OBL rant, with bites such as:

You’re calling Saddam Hussein “barbaric.” Duly noted. That’s more than we can usually get out of the moonbat left.

I sure don’t want to catch him alive. Dead is very much preferable. And if by chance, they do catch him alive, it would be best if he died, cough cough, trying to escape.

he is the reason why I hate Bush. Bush would rather go after Hussein with all that money spent on iraq. We could have spent that money to go after him and had him. If we did, Bush would have probably won a third election after getting the max 10 year term overturned. ahhhhh… the what if’s

Once again you are conflating Saddam Hussein with Islamic fundamentalist terrorists.

Chris: Oh, please don’t tell me that you are the product of a U.S. public education!

It reads like maybe he’s the product of about 6 cups of coffee…

Chris — how evil was Hussein? Even Bin Laden thinks he’s “barbaric”.

And Preston, just because Saddam abolished Sharia law, doesn’t mean he isn’t still an Islamic fundamentalist terrorist. (just not as “fundamentlist” as some other Islamic terrorists…but make no mistake, he was a terrorist).

So there’s no conflating going on here.

That’s just not true. Saddam was a secular dictator. Just because we don’t like something it doesn’t mean we can re-define it to mean other bad things.

Saddam received our support for years exactly for the reason that he was a secular counter-balance to the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Got something you want to say?
