Today would have been Spc. Carrie French’s 20th birthday. Carrie was killed in action on June 5, 2005 in Kirkuk, Iraq.
I wrote about Carrie’s death last year, and have since received numerous emails and comments from Carrie’s family, friends, Soldiers who served with her, and other Soldiers just voicing their support.
Happy Birthday, Carrie. And thanks.

I remember Carrie in my prayers. My dad was in the Army for 20 years, only to retire after my mom passed away. When seeing a picture of Carrie, and of the other women that have died, I wonder why the other women have not been mentioned in any bloggs. Somehow, inside, i feel its because she was a very pretty girl. What makes her different than the other women that died in Iraq, such as Sgt. Cari A. Gasiewicz, Pfc. Nichole M. Frye, and Spc. Tyanna S. Felder
I was the officer in charge of Carrie’s training at Ft. Bliss, TX to prepare our group for deployment to Iraq. Carrie was a beautiful person down to her soul. Everyone she met loved her. She is sorrowfully missed.

Happy birthday, Carrie.
I have not forgotten. I will be eternally grateful for the sacrifice you made so that I might live free.
