My Hometown

My hometown, Conroe, Tx (where I haven’t lived since joining the Army in 1990) is in the news today in a story about the planned revitalization of the city’s downtown.

Conroe is one of four Texas cities chosen this year by the Texas Historical Commission to participate in the Texas Main Street program, which is part of a national effort to rehabilitate downtowns and preserve their historical character.

I grew up in Conroe and I didn’t even realize there was a downtown area. I’m not sure I could point you to where in Conroe downtown is located (and Conroe’s a relatively small town of about 42K residents).

Mabye the revitalization process could include a marketing campaign to let residents know there is a downtown. That would be a good start.

  1. I was reading about Conroe the other day. Some idiot was going on and on about how Michael Perry was innocent so I looked up his case.

  2. “…joining the Army in 1990.”

Oops. I thought that might be your pic at the top of the page. Guess you’re not quite that old.

    I like the picture, though.

There’s a special soft spot in my heart for overweight children and old curmudgeons.

There’s a recent pic on the “About” link.
