Austin Area Disc Golf

Three New Courses

With the opening of the new disc golf course at Steeplechase Park in Kyle, TX (click the image for a larger map of the course) last month, there are now 20 Disc Golf courses within a 31 mile radius of Austin, Texas.

A second course in Williamson County Park and a third just south of Manor, TX in East Metropolitan Park will bring that count to 22 courses by the end of the year.

Which is good, considering that there are talks of closing the most heavily played course in town (Pease Park, which is adjacent to the campus of UT) because of the envrionmental impact (not just from disc golf, but also from the hike & bike trails, the dog park, the watershed runoff through Shoal Creek, etc.).

The following image shows the locations of all 22 courses within the 31.6 mile radius of Austin:
