Liberal students give up all pretense of “supporting the troops”

Domestic enemy of the US MilitaryWow — that sign pretty well sums up the sad state of affairs at UC Santa Cruz. But what an impressive vocabulary for such a young moonbat. Here’s a few other words she should familiarize herself with, too: dhimmitude, dhimmi, and sharia. Because that same Army that she hates so much is the only* thing standing between her, those terms, and a burka.

*There are also Marines, Airmen, and Sailors standing along side those Soldiers, but still between her and the Islamofascists who want to kill her.

When I enlisted in the US Army, I made the the following oath: “”I, < state your name >, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;”

Each and every Soldier makes the same vow. Including the Soldiers who were attacked and run off the campus of UC Santa Cruz during a job fair:

Military recruiters packed up their displays and left a UC Santa Cruz job fair Tuesday after several protesters attempted to force themselves inside the fair while others blocked the entrance over the course of a tense hour-long standoff.

Citing safety concerns, the four recruiters from the Army and National Guard reversed an earlier decision to remain at the fair in a room separated from other job recruiters and protected by more than a dozen campus police.

These students — some of whom gloated about throwing rocks at the recruiters’ Military SUV and daring them to “return in the fall for the next UCSC Career Fair” — should be considered domestic enemies of the United States Military.

When UW Madison students domestic enemies attacked a recruiting station, I wrote:

he [the Military Recruiter] should be allowed to use any weapon for which he is qualified (9mm pistol, M-16 rifle, M203 grenade launcher, M2 .50 Cal rifle, etc.) to defend his post against these latte-fueled, sense-of entitlement, ungrateful idiots from further attacks on US Military property and personnel.

And I stand by that statement in regards to these ingrates at UCSC — the moment that rock hit the SUV, they should have stopped and engaged the enemy. You might think this extreme — I don’t. We’re at war, and these kids have chosen to become domestic enemies of the US military.

And this has nothing — NOTHING — to do with their First Amendment rights, either. They don’t have the right to attack military personnel. They don’t have the right to destroy and steal military property. They don’t have the right to use their First Amendment rights to squash the same rights of others.

Don't these cops have tasers?

For the record: This is not supporting the troops. This is unpatriotic.

  • Craig Martelle at Strategic Outlook Institute believes that UCSC has violated the Solomon Act.
  • Bryan at Junkyard dog defines sedition.
  • Chuck at The Right State, another military veteran remarks: “I’m glad its us protecting them, rather than them protecting us!”

No, shit, Chuck. Or we’d all be dhimmis by now.

I’m not supporting these demonstrators but do you really think this is even remotely true?

Because that same Army that she hates so much is the only* thing standing between her, those terms, and a burka

If so, I’d be interested in hearing the scenario in which the US government is replaced by sharia law.

I think the entire point of the demonstrators is that US military action in Iraq is irrelevant if not harmful to US security. That may be a debatable point but to extrapolate that position into an ‘objectively pro-Sharia’ policy (to paraphase Christopher Hitchens…) is utterly absurd.

I suppose you also would have concluded that Abraham Lincoln’s opposition to the Mexican War implied his opposition to defending the Union in 1861?

I’d be interested in hearing the scenario in which the US government is replaced by sharia law.

It’s long, but very well worth the read.

I Support Our Troops

and so does Gaius at Blue Crab Boulevard. Do you?

The truth is that many Americans support the troops. The Media however distorts that image time and again by focusing on the vile, lefty anarchist types who don’t support the US military however y…

How did these young adults grow up to be such hateful individuals? They are a sad lot.

Liberal parents and liberal college professors. Remember, hate is taught and learned.

For the record, cutting Veteran’s Benefits and not providing the necessary body army to our soldiers is NOT supporting the troops and is UNpatriotic.

A yellow ribbon that says “I support our Troops” on the back of your car doesnt make you patriotic, it makes you a hypocrite if you then go and support political leaders that are voting to cut Veteran’s Benefits and to not provide the body armor.

Lauren, it’s sad and apparent that you don’t know the truth about the body armor issue — that Left-talking pont has been well debunked.

I don’t support reducing Veteran’s benefits, either. I didn’t support it under President Clinton, either. But since becoming a disabled veteran back in 1993, my service-connected disability benefits have done nothing but gone up.

I don’t have a yellow ribbon on the back of my car, either. I have a US Army Veteran license plate instead.

So, the “chicken hawk” meme doesn’t really fly around here. I’ve raised my hand. I’ve worn the uniform. I’ve done my time in the sand, so that you and your ilk can continue to abuse your “freedoms” without having ever done a damned thing to have earned them (other than having the fortune to be born in this great country).

But I still find those little yellow ribbons that you so despise to be infinitely more patriotic than signs that say “Fuck the Army”. But hey, that’s just me.

Oh, and an FYI, Lauren — those talking points you’re reading from? They’re months old. You should run (don’t walk) to the DNC or DailyKos for your updated list.

Good job assuming I get my talking points from DailyKos or the DNC. My words aren’t anyone’s talking points, but rather come from real life experiences of my loved ones.

Have I served in the Army? Marines? AirForce? No and I’m greatful that I haven’t had to. But, I am also greatful for those who have chosen to serve and dedicate their time and lives to the service and our Country.

I am glad to hear that you havent felt the crunch of Veteran’s benefits and the cuts to VA hospitals. Everyone has not had the same experience.

Last year, my father was in the VA getting his legs amputated (some Dr.s and caseworkers will say it is service related, some won’t). Our family was given a timeline of how long he would be in the hospital including recovery and rehabilitation that amound to something like 5 weeks. In that time my mom planned to rework the house and get prepared to better care for a double amputee. Needless to say, budget cuts went into effect, and after less than two weeks, my mom recieved a call and said he no longer qualified for rehabilitation and and certain portions of the extra recovery period and she had to come pick him up from the hospital the next day. The house wasnt completely prepared nor were his completely healed, but that just didnt matter. Not to mention, no one was prepared to get him in and out of my my mom’s car when he didnt have legs to stand on to get into a wheelchair. But, hey they were supporting our troops!

Whether a veteran serves for 3 years or retires from the military, whether or not during their time of service they were sent into combat, they signed up ready to serve in combat if they were so called (maybe those 3 years the country did not send any many into combat) . They were willing to put their lives on the line so that people like me did not have to, and they deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and deserve the benefits that will keep them healthy and comforable for the rest of their lives. As a taxpayer, I am 100% ready to support that (whether or not they served in a war I thought was necessary, because I know they follow they orders of the commander in chief — not me.)

Robbie- your link doesn’t work but reading the cached version it seems just another incarnation of the Red Menace/ Yellow Peril fears without any particular basis in reality.

Regarding the protester. I disagree with her but I’m not sure if anger is misplaced if you feel that your government is not only engaged in a policy which is killing thousands of innocent people but possibly increasing the vulnerability of Americans to attack. The war in Iraq is damaging the US military- we are losing capable officers that will be need at a time when the US faces a war not of our choosing. So, sure the Army is the vehicle of this policy but she’s an idiot for displacing her vitriol from the instigators of these policies.

Final Salute

The dichotomy between the misguided useful idiots and the disciplined protective warriors is glaring. The students storm a group of recruiters they know will not strike them back. The Warriors go willingly and bravely facing an enemy determined to ki…

Life must be very hard for Lauren and her family. Although not as severe, we had a similar battle with the VA regarding benefits for my father. He fought for benefits on and off again for nearly 50 years as a WWII veteran and died the same month they finally increased his disability to 30% from 10%. He spent 4 years in the Army, including a long stint in the Philippines during WWII and came home sick with malaria and hepatitis. The VA continually rejected his claims, blaming his liver problems on alcoholism, but I’m certain even his alcoholism was a result of the stress he had during WWII. He nearly died a couple of times from liver failure when I was a little kid. My dad was the only son of a widowed mother and they still drafted him. He came home to no home because his mother lost the farm while he was fighting in the Philippines. The VA isn’t always fair.

That aside, the UCSC students you wrote about are ignorant, spoiled brats, typical of those who have the privilege of living in a free and safe country but have no appreciation for those who give their lives so they can.

“domestic enemies of the United States Military.”

The military doesn’t have enemies. The nation has enemies, both foreign and domestic, that the military is directed to combat.

The authority of the military emanates from the authority of the Federal government, which is empowered through the consent of the governed. Regardless of how you feel about their opinions or actions, those UCSC students are the military’s boss.

Your inability, or your choice, not to grasp this is both troubling and I’m afraid, common.

FledTheAsylum wrote: “those UCSC students are the military’s boss.”

Then someone better start filing a lawsuit against job place harassment because those pathetic anarchists are “harassing” their employees.

and you also wrote: “The military doesn’t have enemies” - let me refer you to exhibit A- the first image at this post - the sign the protestor is holding reads “Fuck the Army”. So I would have to say wrong answer - those twits hate the army and are the enemies of men like my husband and my father who have laid their lifes on the line so that that little piece of shit can hold that sign up.
