An interesting read over at the Economist about blogs (ok…probably only interesting to those who do blog).
There are probably as many different definitions as to what a blog is as there are bloggers. But this basic definition from the Economist fits this blog pretty well:
Dave Winer, a software engineer who pioneered several blogging technologies, and who keeps what by his own estimate is the longest-running blog of all (dating back to 1997), has argued that the essence of blogginess is “the unedited voice of a single personâ€, preferably an amateur. Blogs, in other words, usually have a raw, unpolished authenticity and individuality.
Except, that thanks to each and every person who stops by and leaves a comment on a post — this blog has become the unedited voice of many (except in the rare cicumstance where I do edit or delete a comment).
