Let’s see what the Blogosphere is all a buzz over today (according to Memeorandum)

  • Tony Snow — President Bush has a new White House Press Secretary. Yawn. Unless his first order of business is to punch Helen Thomas in the mouth, I don’t really care. Except that the Left hates the appointment, so it must be a good one. Hot Air has more plus a video of the announcement.
  • Bush Eases Environmental Rules on Gas — Good. And it’s about damn time. Meanwhile, the Left’s answer is to steal the legal profits of the oil companies and “give them to the middle class”. How’s that not Socialism, again? OH, that’s right — that’s exactly what it is.
  • Digby’s mad that conservatives sell and buy T-shirts that make fun of Liberals — Hey, you guys have all of the TV comedians, actors, and “journalists” making fun of Conservatives, so at least let us have our t-shirts. Sheese. Humorless pricks.

Sounds like a slow news day.

I thought you would also mention the CIA leak from Memeorandum… by the way, Jeff at Shape of Days had a nice write up….

Yeah…I read Jeff’s piece.

I want to write about it too…but wanted to do more than just a “quick hit” piece on it.

But Jeff’s quote pretty much wraps it up for me:

She’s guilty of treason against her country. And not even for money or love. She sold out our country for a few percentage points. Firing? Hell. Hanging’s too good for somebody like that.

Except that the Left hates the appointment, so it must be a good one.

Is that really the way you think?

As for the substance of your comment, I don’t think the ‘left’ really cares who Bush’s press secretary is. In fact, I suspect most liberals would prefer to see him explicitly on the Bush payroll.

(Most of the quotes in the link don’t seem to have a person animosity to Snow but refer to him as a liar- well, is that the pre-requisite for the job?)

ahhh excuse me Preston. That blatherwatch guy (whoever he is) made some nasty cracks about Snow’s cancer..I’d call that just a bit personal.

In any event, it wouldn’t matter who was Bush’s press secretary. People with that much hate would villify Santa Claus if he was secretary.

Nothing surprises me anymore and I expect Snow is prepared for the worst. It does surprise me, however, that someone with a history of cancer would subject himself to the stresses inherent in this job. Stress plays hell with the immune system, the heart, you name it.

My last paragraph doesn’t make sense..one moment nothing is surprising me and the next I express surprise…oh well..excuse my brain fart please. It’s one of those days. I’m packing to move and trying to keep up with getting things done for my new house and and and…

Congrats and good luck on the new house and the move.

I can commiserate…our house is currently on the market, and we’ve just started building our new house (staying in Austin). It’s a big stress.

Hope all goes well for you.

Very cool Robbie. We should have a house building do’s, don’t and general update post. I think Preston might even have some interest. I’ve been taking pictures of the process on my house which I could even post a link to. Right now, the electricians, plumbers and heating/cooling guys are in. The framing process was really interesting. Thank you for your good wishes and I wish the same for you!

Meanwhile, the Left’s answer is to steal the legal profits of the oil companies and “give them to the middle class”.

Robbie- I’m not sure how you inferred this from Pelosi’s statement. Actually Democrats want to reduce federal subsidies to the petroleum companies and apply that revenue to lowering the gas tax. Do you think that oil companies need subsidies when they are making record profits?

After September 11 President Bush had a tremendous opportunity to call for programs to reduce our dependence on imported oil. Instead he asked us to ‘go shopping’- that simply is not leadership. Five years later we are in the midst of an energy crisis and the ’steady and resolute’ President, at the 11th hour, has attempted to address the problem by going against his word to not use the Stategic Reserve to adjust oil prices. Additionally, he blames environmental laws that were also in place during the era of 1 dollar gas. Simply put, he is not a serious man. I’m sorry if you think that sounds harsh.

Dianne- I agree that it is beyond bad taste to joke about someone’s cancer. But it is an absurd extrapolation to troll the internet for out-of-bounds comments and then suppose that all Democrats hold these views.

Got something you want to say?
